Kelvin's Hot Wings — Restaurant in Memphis

Before I share my negative experience, I’ll lead with the positive… The food is actually pretty good. I’ve had fried catfish, boneless wings, and whole wings. The gentleman I dealt with was respectful and the young man in front was green (not knowing much of anything) but respectful as well. They do have something to build if they ever start to care enough about the business itself. And by the way, this review is after 3 visit attempts.

Now with that being said, everything else about the place sucks! All the chairs have holes, rips, or tears in them, the tables look like something from a 1950’s flea market. In the dinning area, They have 2 look like 25 year old vending machines right by the counter and door in the restaurant. Why? Sell snacks over the counter. The TV was playing some Islamic concert and some random news channel that was on repeat. The interior of the place is outdated and old looking; everything from the floors to the walls to the countertops. An absolute disgrace for a public restaurant. The place reeked of the smell of weed; it was so strong I started to think they were smoking right in the kitchen. Which by the way the cook always looks high, with his eyes glossy and slurring his words. Just looking over the counter in the kitchen, it was a filthy mess worthy of an FDA shutdown. Wait time… I waited my last visit in the dining-in area at a table for 1 hour and 30 minutes for 30 boneless wings, and 5 whole wings, and a tray of fries. About an hour into it he asked me to confirm my order. When I asked him why was something wrong, he said he just wanted to make sure they were getting it right. 🧐🤯 During my wait, I watched 2 people walk out and a 3rd place an online order that they claimed they never received. I asked the young man at the counter who his manager was and looked me right in my face with a smile telling me he didn’t know. So I said, “you don’t know who you work for”, and he said nope.

So… due to inconsistencies, restaurant conditions and cleanliness, wait time, lying to my face, poor service, the smell, and so many other things…

I DO NOT RECOMMEND SUPPORTING THIS BUSINESS for your catering needs nor your lunch/dinner needs. There are plenty of other black owned or just locally owned business that are presenting themselves in better fashion...

Tried calling in but went straight to voicemail. Second time I've bought dry season and they were overcooked. Will not return because there are better wing spots to choose from. Also, they put the dressing containers right on the rolls which is unsanitary. The containers may have been sitting on a counter or touched by bare hands while filling. Do better please for the high costs of your wings. The online menu is a fraud bc it reads 50 party wings 36.99. After they didn't answer tel, I went there to order. Placed this order, but when ready, my order total was $58. The cashier made no sense trying to explain the cost change. I should have walked out then...Total highway robbery for terribly wings. Ya'll got over on me this time but never again. You should be ashamed and ppl wonder why ppl are hesitant to support some...

Whew chile, when I say FYE!!! I don't know where these negative nancies came from but, surely they are mistaken!!! I had Kelvin's for the first time last week and, 🗣 I'VE BEEN EATING IT EVERY DAY SINCE! 😩 They make my food exactly how I ask for it!! I don't know anybody else that makes, seasoned with lemon pepper and honey hot drizzle chicken, better than this place!!! The taste is unexplainable and, I haven't been disappointed not one time! Not to mention the customer service is AMAZING!! The beauty that answers the phone and takes the orders always remains professional, sweet and patient no matter what time I call and, she's always smiling. I definitely recommend...
