So I took my kids to lunch. We have been here many times. Always a pleasure. The food and the family are amazing. And at this time and state of the world and local Economy I want to make my dollars work for good. So I choose local. I choose family owned. I choose small business. And this family is near and DEAR to my heart.
But that is not why I am posting.
Usually I order the hot tea. It’s amazing. My son Asked me what it tastes like and I said “Christmas, son. It tastes exactly like Christmas.” Today we were pressed for time and I didn’t have the usual space to be able to lean back and savor the moment with my tea, so I just got water. The owner knew what my kids liked (even though I didn’t remember the name of the dish because Thing 2 just always says “chicken nuggets” and they know what he means). The owner already knew and got us our meal. He even stopped to chat with my boys about their haul from the comic book store.
But again that’s not why I’m Posting.
After I had settled up and was gathering my things (including Thing 1 and Thing 2), here comes the owner from the kitchen with a to-go cup of my heavenly tea. 😍
I cried all the way home.
Folks. It’s these little things that matter. It was just a cup of tea but to me it was the WORLD. You never know what someone is going through and just how much your small, thoughtful, kindness can matter to them.
This just might be my favorite Christmas...
Read moreEDITED to respond to owners response: I have screen shots of the conversation, but I won't post them. I made it ENTIRELY clear that we would make the call on Sunday morning. AND that even if there was rain we had a backup plan. The bottom line is, you could've responded to one of the many texts that were sent.
This restaurant also has a food truck, which is often at events around Memphis. And they were just a complete NO SHOW!! I had them booked for several months for an event after our church service on Memorial Day weekend. I stayed in regular contact. On Thursday before the Sunday event, I reached out to discuss our rainy day plan (since it was forecast to rain), they said "I think it's best to cancel if it rains." I replied that we would have poople eat indoors and we had an awning they could park under. Regardless of weather, we would have about 200 people who would stay to eat. (We had another food truck lined up as well.)
I kept in touch, and on the day of, let them know the forecast didn't show rain until later in the afternoon, amd would they please let me know if they were coming? They never responded after several calls and texts! I was forced to order pizza for about 100 people so we would just have enough food to feed everyone. I don't know how they stay in business with...
Read moreI had a great experience here. AND. You can get an all #keto or #vegan meal depending on your choices!
Their to-go area is easily accessible. The staff is super nice and I will return for their food.
With the skewer theme, you can choose your protein and then pick your veggies like a salad. You can combine a mixture of meat, poultry and/or seafood skewers.
The mixed vegetables were delicious: broccoli and squash. I did get the half mixed vegetables/half fries. Shoot me. They were delicious too. I ask to be light on the salt overall.
The seasoning of the food is what makes it really good and I love that the chicken is tender. They have tofu. So you can get tofu, a salad and mixed vegetables.
They have local beer on tap and I am told it goes well with their huge snapper meal.
The seating is not only socially distant, it's pleasing to the eye and a great place for groups.
Good luck with parking on a busy night. Worth the walk though....
