I am writing to address pressing concerns regarding the operations and safety standards at the Kroger store located at 1759 Union Avenue in Memphis, TN.
Despite its location in a nice part of Midtown, recent experiences have revealed a concerning trend of deteriorating conditions within the store premises. This appears to be correlated with the closure of two Kroger stores in lower-income areas, specifically at 2269 Lamar and South Third.
The current state of the Kroger at 1759 Union Avenue is distressing. There have been instances of disruptive behavior from patrons, including incidents involving theft and a general lack of regard for the store's cleanliness. Employees have been observed leaving pallets in aisles throughout the day, which obstructs the shopping experience for customers.
Furthermore, the presence of a visibly pregnant security guard with indecent exposure, as evidenced by her exposed buttocks, raises serious concerns about the professionalism and dignity of staff members.
I am deeply troubled by the potential safety risks posed by the influx of individuals engaging in unlawful activities, including theft and disorderly conduct, within and around the store premises. The recent incident I overheard by a Kroger employee at U-Scan on 4/5/24 regarding people leaving without paying further underscores the urgent need for improved security measures.
It is evident that the decision to close stores in underserved neighborhoods has had unintended consequences, resulting in the migration of individuals with disruptive behaviors to this location.
I implore the management team to take immediate action to rectify these issues. This includes implementing stricter security protocols, improving employee training and accountability, and maintaining a clean and orderly shopping environment.
I would also like to request the involvement of relevant stakeholders, such as the Memphis mayor and neighborhood associations, to address these concerns collaboratively and ensure the well-being of both customers and employees.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and trust that necessary steps will be taken to restore the integrity and safety of the Kroger store at 1759...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. I waited nearly an hour for my order, while multiple cars pulled in, got their items, and left. The app falsely said my order was āon its way outā the entire timeābut it never came.
I had parked behind the last pickup vehicle because all the designated spots were full. An employee came outāon her personal phoneāand loudly said, āI donāt know why she parked there,ā clearly referring to me. When I politely let her know I could move if needed, she snapped, āI wasnāt talking to you,ā then rudely told me to park somewhere else and walked off. I later learned her name is Akira, and sheās apparently a pickup supervisor. If this is the example being set, that explains everything.
After almost an hour of waiting, I called the storeāand who answers? Akira. I gave my name and she rudely sighed and said, āYo order aināt ready,ā with absolutely no courtesy or professionalism.
I went inside to speak with the manager, AJ, who apologized for her behavior but admitted the store was still fulfilling orders from the previous day. He said he had āasked someoneā to call customers about delaysāyet I got no call. Worse, he said he didnāt know why the app was showing that orders were ready, and admitted he didnāt know how to cancel my order. His only solution? āIām here six days a week, so you can come back if itās not canceled.ā
I ended up canceling the order completely. Kroger lost my business that day because of poor communication, zero accountability, and untrained leadership. Iāve never dealt with such disorganization and disrespect in a grocery pickup experience.
If this is how customers are treated, Iāll gladly take my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHow does this place have 4 stars??? Itās literally hell on earth and Iāve never spoken to someone who disagrees. The parking -terrible (due to both the idiocy of customers and the size/layout) The service- terrible The whole process of dealing with the receipt check on the way out-terrible Pick ups-mostly terrible but you do occasionally get what you ordered and the people that bring out the groceries are typically kind. But that being said, Iāve never had so many issues with any other Kroger pick up. Like idk why most of the other Krogerās manage to bring out the right things. I know they are busy but Iād imagine bad management is mostly to blame. Safety- terrible (literallyyyyyy had a gun pulled on me here!!! also a hand full of other incidents but just the one threat with the gun)
This all is literally Krogerās fault. Memphis has its problems we all know but Kroger is a multi billion dollar company and they canāt manage to handle this one store. Cause screw us right. We are just sheep that continue to deal with this because itās what we feel like we have to do. They could do so much to fix alllll of these issues. Iāll go no further into the failings of this MULTI BILLION dollar company because this review is about the union location.
Donāt go. Go to aldis on summer, go to the fresh market down the street, go to the Kroger on Mendenhall (the only one that doesnāt...
