Luigis Pizza & Pasta — Restaurant in Menasha

Although, I've been a customer of Luigis for decades and have ordered nearly 50+ pizzas from them, after my last in house dining experience, I do not foresee myself taking my family there again.

The pizza is alright and by alright, I mean its not great.

I always recalled their pizza to have a bit of a thicker crust, but this time it seemed as though maybe someone messed up on the recipe, as it was much thicker than I could recollect.

Luigis pizza to me was always known to have an ample amount of cheese. So, when we ordered extra cheese I expected to have an extraordinary amount and alas, it was just a regular amount of cheese. I'd say, it was less than I remembered being on pizzas I'd ordered in the past without extra cheese. Maybe, someone messed up in the kitchen because they were being berated by their elderly Italian boss.

Like I said, the pizza was alright. The service, was dreadful.

Upon entering we could here the old Italian guy yelling at some girl in the kitchen to, "Just get out of my kitchen!". I know this is commonplace for Luigis, as having eaten there before, I've heard him yelling at workers. And, I must say yelling and swearing. Might I add, he also had a plate in his hand and was waving it in the girls face while yelling at her.

As we were seated, the old guy appeared to sneer at me. I do not know why, but he must not have liked my tattoos.

We were seated promptly and had our order taken shortly thereafter. We played a few games on the machines while we waited. During waiting for the pizza, all four of our drinks became empty and neglected. Only to be refilled (by a different waitress) after my son went up and asked. The waitress who'd served us initially was literally doing nothing and looking right at our empty drinks.

When our pizza was served, the angry old man had to bring us plates and he was clearly upset. And not only about us not having plates, but apparently at someone in the kitchen, again, because we could hear him yelling at someone.

Seriously, this old guy is always yelling at someone in the kitchen. I used to find it funny, but not so much anymore.

Just as we'd began digging into our 'za, the waitress who initially took our order (and didn't serve it) briskly walked past and asked how it was. Kind of funny, if you ask me.

As other customers were leaving, the old man was sending them salutations and thanking them graciously. When we left, I swear to you, he sneered at me from behind the bar just as he had when we came in.

Went to try out Luigis Pizza & Pasta this past Saturday evening after reading the reviews. Although it had just opened for the day there were already several tables seated but still plenty of room for my friend and I and we were taken right to a table by the fireplace which wasn't lit at that time but was a little later. Our server brought us the menus and took our drink orders of Pepsi and root beer and an order of garlic bread and while we waited for her to return we checked out the menus. Luigis has a very comfy and warm interior. Our server brought our drinks and took our orders very quickly we decided as it was our first time here to try both there traditional and deep dish pizza my friend got a half sausage and half pepperoni traditional crust while I got a deep dish pepperoni after taking our orders our server brought us our garlic bread with some marinara on the side. The garlic bread loaf was very good with a good crust and very tasty butter and garlic topping and the marinara was excellent. We enjoyed our bread while enjoying the nice surroundings which as I said were warm and friendly there were a couple of tvs on that were on different channels one showing the football game and another with the news. Our pizza's came out in about 10 or 15 minutes and they were great looking. Now I will tell you the traditional crust was excellent plenty of cheese and Pepperoni and Sausage excellent pizza the deep was also very good plenty of cheese and Pepperoni however I will make one comment about the deep dish if you get it and I will be doing this myself the next time I go. Get it with more than just pepperoni while the edge crust was good it was a bit dry compared to some others I have had at other pizza places and I think that it needs more sauce and other toppings like onions and peppers whether it is green or red or banana peppers and if you like them mushrooms and black olives. But if you get it like I did with just pepperoni you will not get the full enjoyment of the deep dish. So load it up and tell them to add a little extra sauce and I think the deep dish will be perfect. I was definitely not happy with the food I received. The deep dish is not actually deep dish. It's not very thick in the middle, it just has a high crust in the back. It was also super greasy. The one thing I liked was the texture of the crust. However, The entire pizza was tasteless. There was little to no sauce on the pizza. The crust was tasteless. I definitely make better pizza at home. I was charged extra for cheese on my salad, but was not informed beforehand. I had assumed they were substituting for the things I took off but that was not discussed. If I knew I was going to be charged extra, I would not have ordered it. Also, I was not happy about the automatic tip. Our entire group was confused as nobody had mentioned it. When I questioned the staff about it they said that it could be read in their menu. When you're with a group of people the last thing you are doing is reading a menu thoroughly. You need to make it clear that you are charging. Most of the group almost left even more of a tip because they did not notice it. I felt very deceived. We also had to continue to ask for certain things. One of our group members had to get up and go get her own water because staff was nowhere to be found. Honestly, I always tip but this probably would have been a night I didn't. I ended up sick that evening as well within an hour of eating the pizza. I was so embarrassed to leave half a pizza there. I always take my food to go because I do not like to waste.
