Jack in the Box — Restaurant in Merced

Not super impressed with this Jack in the Box one bit. The only reason the food got three stars is because I called and the manager did correct the mistake for me. Me and my son went there and he wanted to try the new smashburger. I have tried it before from a different location and it was absolutely amazing. The burger itself is quite expensive but it is a good size burger. My 20 year old son was at the table eating and after taking his second bite of the burger, he pulled out a very long black hair from his mouth/bite he was chewing. He literally left the table and threw up in the kitchen sink. It was disgusting. It was clear that this hair was more than likely cooked in with the burger. This location is gross. It stinks so bad inside like urine and filth. It ruined my appetite I could not even eat the food that I had purchased. I called and the smashburger was replaced. Even though nobody in my household would touch it because they were so grossed out from the night before. Upon observation inside of the restaurant it is clear how hair ended up in the food. Not one employee was wearing their hair back or a hair net. No one was wearing gloves when they were preparing the food either. Just very unsanitary and not healthy for anyone. There is always unhoused people hanging out and walking straight up to you asking for money. Which is expected anywhere you go these days. But being a female and by myself at night it is a little uncomfortable at times. The management really needs to step it up at this location. They should be ashamed of themselves. Filth and stench will ruin ones appetite. Jack in the Box corporation should step in because it really is giving the franchise a bad reputation. This was one of the worst fastfood experiences I've ever had. The food was fine but the service was terrible. We all have bad days and I totally get that, but the sheer disdain and attitude i received today was uncalled for. I got a drink and when I went to fill it, they were out of my flavor. No big deal, I went for my second favorite and it ran out in less than a second. Again, no big deal. I went to the counter to inform them of the outage and them to fill it back there. I kid you not, they all watched me stand there for 3 minutes with no acknowledgement. When I was finally helped I was met with an attitude that made me seem like burdon more than a customer. They brought me the drink but it was wrong. I was going to toss it and leave but another person. In my party took over and had them fix it. She was met with same hateful attitude and met it with her "Starbucks Shift Supervisor no nonsense attitude". They fixed it but the cashier made a point of moving as slowly as possible. We just waited five minutes at the counter for someone to take our order, no greeting. No customers there except one car in the drive thru. At least three people working that we saw. This was a Saturday at 7pm. Once we were finally greeted, we asked for a giftcard. The girl went and asked someone else, who then had to ask another person. This girl comes to the register and tries to take our order, so we say again that we want to purchase a gift card. She tells us the manager is the only person who can sell those. We say, okay, can you get the manager? She says no she's not working till Monday. Is this real life? Never coming back here. No wonder the place was empty.
