I’ve driven past for the last 20 years or so and finally stopped in. On my travels I’d pass this store and always say to myself “I need to check this place out” Sunday about 5:30 I did just that. With the love of my life at my side we looked over the sandwich menu..for my love is was the Ribeye sandwich, I choose the Southwest chicken sandwich. The Southwest chicken was tender slices of chicken, pepper jack cheese, chipotle aioli on a soft roll. The Ribeye sandwich was layers of the most tender ribeye I have ever tasted, it was accompanied by mushrooms and bell pepper. The beauty of the Ribeye is its simplicity. The meat was the star and the mushrooms and pepper played a supporting role. My Southwest chicken was delicious however the Ribeye Sandwich was off the Hook.. The new owner Andrew came out and chatted with with us for awhile. He’s a very nice guy who took time out to explain the different meats and cuts of steaks. We purchased some bacon that looks so beautiful. (We’ve yet to break into the bacon) but I’ll update once we’ve done so. You get what you pay for at Wolfsens. Good luck on your new venture Andrew ‼️ (He’s not going to need luck folks)😉

THIS is the place that Merced has been missing! So many burger joints in Merced and all of them keep missing the mark or have just gotten complacent. They've got real competition now cause going forward if I want a GREAT smash burger, I'm going here. It definitely gave me that late 70's/80's smash burger diner feel with a modern twist. I got a "Double Pretty Good Burger" and got the sides - onion rings (fairly certain they're beer battered), fries, and a drink. And I gotta say that the burger was pretty good! And the price point was also a plus! I got it the way it came but added jalapenos as they didn't have bacon tonight. Although the patties were smashed right, they were pretty dry, this is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I'm going to try a triple and see if that fixes the problem like at in n out, however a smash burger should already be juicy even with just one patty. If they can fix that issue a 5 star update will be done. Overall it was a great old school smash burger, the onion rings and crinkle fries were PERFECT. Only thing missing is a shake machine! I'll definitely be going back, as again, this is what's been missing in Merced

Food: ordered a good burger, crinkle cut fries, and a grilled cheese. Hold on... out of those fries, so I ordered onion rings. We were told that the grilled cheese was great. Service: This was my first time eating here. Wanted to try something new and support local business. I entered the restaurant and was given a so-so greeting by saying we're only doing to go orders. My reply was order IS to go. Atmosphere: it was ok, I know they were ready to close shop, but I got there at 4:46 by the receipt time. Now online, it says they close at 6 pm, but I guess the door says 5pm. I added 2 pics of the grilled cheese. That's what my wife wanted. Worst looking grilled cheese I've ever seen! This was my first and last time visiting this business. Not again! All the choices around town I could've waited in line at In N Out.

We love the food from here and come here often upsetting to see at a slow time we still get served cold fries that were just sitting there rather than fresh. The most off putting thing was the cashier taking my order with gloves touching the register screen and using those same gloves to toast my buns as I’m ordering. I asked her if those buns were for my order and she said yes I kindly asked if she could please change her gloves. She obliged and I apologized explaining it grosses me out because the cashier comes into contact with money and touching a register isn’t sanitary. She told me no yeah whatever floats your boat. Like I’m sorry hygiene shouldn’t be answered with whatever floats your boat. They had 2 other workers making food and it wasn’t busy to the point they needed a cashier dropping buns at the same time as taking an order. Not sure if these workers have a food handlers card, not sure if we’d come back cause the workers clearly don’t see hygiene standards with food as important. Service doesn’t make me want to return either. As a fast food manager I was surprised the managers...
