DO NOT LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS FROM LABOR DAY.
My wife and I decided to visit on Labor Day, upon walking in we noticed it was extremely busy and were prepared for the wait. We decided to sit at the bar near one of the cash registers and were quickly asked what we wanted to drink and eat. After ordering I noticed that the list of receipts going to the kitchen was moving slowly but the employees were all working hard and trying their best to appease everyone.
While sitting there I started to notice multiple people walking up to the register and asking when their food would be ready. Some were nice about it and said if you could just cancel it that would be fine. But others weren't so nice. Berating the clearly understaffed employees doing their best, arguing about not paying because their food wasn't to order, or walking out without telling the staff so their food went to waste and made others wait even longer. Keep in mind during all of these complaints the staff (cant remember names just the people who were serving food only names that sound right are Sarah and Rich) were very apologetic and tried to explain the situation and in return were berated, insulted, and given 0 respect. My wife and I sat there and joked because the more people leaving the faster we would get our food!
One lady had the audacity to go up and refuse to pay because she was a vegetarian and found a chunk of bacon in her meal. Like bacon bit sized chunk. She went on an on about how she had to wait an hour for her food.... how the food was good but it was ruined by a small piece of bacon.... but she ate over half the meal and refused to pay... the two staff members dealing with this lady were both apologetic and tried to resolve the situation, but lady wasn't having it. I do not know if she paid or not but it sure looked like she didn't. Unacceptable behavior by patrons of a restaurant. Especially a busy one. If you are vegetarian and go to a restaurant that doesn't cater specifically to your needs do us a favor and don't complain when a simple mistake is made. Go about it in a different manner. Or at least be understanding that a simple mistake has been made at an extremely busy time. Plus you ate half the meal, being that serious about a dietary restriction and not making it yourself is risky in the first place. For example people who are celiac take a risk every time they get something at a restaurant because of potential cross-contamination.
When we got our food it was fantastic, a great serving size, hot, and tasty. I wish I had the money to tip the entire staff at Capris today but I simply didn't. Thank you to all of the staff who worked their butts off today while being mistreated and abused. Our meal was well worth the wait and you can bet we will be back soon. To the Owner/Manager/Higher Ups your staff is awesome!
Could the times have been quicker? Yes. Could there have been a little more sense of urgency within the staff? Yes! BUT WE DIDN'T CARE. They were understaffed like many businesses nowadays, and were jammed packed...

So today we brought our family back and we ended up switching tables because the first one was too small. The older server lady had attitude written all over her face about us moving. And then once we moved we got zero service. We sat there for 10 min before we had to track someone down.
The person clearing tables said he would go get our server. While he was talking to our supposed server she just stood there with this dumbfounded look on her face and then told the guy to go ask someone else. So he asked another guy who came over to help us finally. So we asked for drinks and then ordered our food.
As we waited for food we had to continually ask for refills on our coffee.
Our pancakes came out like 5 min before our food but they were nice and hot but had zero flavor. We even got the huckleberry pancakes and they added nothing for flavor.
Our food came and looked good but once we started to eat the hash browns were stale tasting and no one at any more than 2-3 bites of those. And then the omelette was cooked in this horrible grease and tasted weird.
Our server asked us how our food was and so we honestly told him that the hash browns were stale and that the omelette was full of gross tasting grease. He did say sorry but that was about it.
When we got our check we asked for some sort of a discount since we didn’t even eat most of our food but the manager said there was nothing he could do. To me this helped us make our decision that we will never be back.
From the start we never had good service, we always had to track someone down for refills during our whole visit yet people walked by us all the time and could see our drinks were low. And then not getting taken care of for the food that was not good and could clearly see we didn’t even eat (including our toddler who eats everything) proves to us that they didn’t care about as customers and that’s sad. We were not asking for anything crazy.
We regularly go out to eat and people ask us all the time for places to eat and Capris will not be one of our recommendations. The food tasted cheap and customer service sucked.
Man I wanted to really like Capri, but is was just awkward. Feel 3 stars is being positive, left a lot to be desired. Might go back again some time but not sure. My feedback is to hopefully give the team some insight on ways to maybe improve.
The good/ok: Wife's chicken fried steak was standard deep fried and ok, but salty (no she didn't put any more salt on it). Her over medium eggs were cooked perfectly. Her hashbrowns were crispy but kind of matted down like they were sitting on the grill, maybe because it was slow (?). My hotcakes were decent, not the best I've had but good with the butter and syrup. My sausage links were basic but good. The place felt and looked clean and the food wallpaper was pretty cool and gave that diner feel.
The awkward/not so good: We walk in and there's about 5 tables of customers in the whole place, sign said to seat ourself. No music so it was kind of awkward since our first visit, nobody says anything to like "hey grab a seat and we'll be right with you", even though it was pretty slow and workers were chatting it up at the kitchen counter area. So we sat and there was no urgency to come over and greet us with menus and we sat there for a few minutes which felt like a lifetime since we could see workers not occupied and not greeting us. Just not welcoming at all. Our server, she was nice seemed a bit introverted though so a little awkward, but she took our orders just fine. Then we saw our food come up and sit in the window, while our server was taking another order, but the 2 guys were just standing up front and one was bussing tables. Our server came back to the counter, put the other table's order in, then pulled a couple of our plates down and then verbally called in the other table's order. Odd when they have a POS system. Then she dropped our food to us and was nice about it, forgot my wife's request for a little extra gravy on the side but no biggie. My over medium eggs, unlike my wife's, were delivered upside down and I knew the cook was hiding his poor cook on them and sure enough the yolks were cooked hard. Thought about sending back, but our server never came back until she dropped the bill off. Never asked us how our food was or if there was anything else we needed except coffee. Then after she came and grabbed our credit card to ring us up, the music came on! LOL It was very fitting of the whole experience.
I don't know if there's a steady clientele there or not, but imagine they get busy on weekends. Not horrible, just underwhelming and awkward. We'll keep searching Meridian for something better and wish...
