Margie's Mixing Bowl — Restaurant in Meridian

A most traumatic experience. Special order cake for child birthday. Beautiful cake but the icing slid off the back of it. Picked it up Saturday just before closing, party on Sunday, and I called Monday morning to let Margie know. The way Margie responded to my call remains the worst costumer services experience I have ever encountered. I’ve waited to post this—to give it time to rest and process the words spoken to me. I explained the situation and, before finishing, I was cut off and berated instantly. I was told that I should’ve contacted her immediately and I explained I called the moment the store reopened on Monday (closed Saturday after leaving store and on Sunday). A simple and kind and honest ‘I’m sorry’ would have sufficed. I needed nothing else. I never asked for a refund or any concession. Despite that, Margie was harsh and told me she was a small business owner with young children and that she should be supported. I love supporting local businesses, but that does not require me to relinquish the right to expect a proper product of which has been properly paid. A thread of kindness, an admission of a mistake, an apology—-all had the possibility of making it right and affording me an opportunity to give it another try. I live in Montana and my best friend is in Mississippi as a Navy officer on base. She has had a rough few months and her birthday is coming up and I wanted to do something nice for her. I reached out to Margie's and they were able to put together a dozen unicorn themed cupcakes and my friends amazing house cleaner picked them up and brought them to her so they would not melt in the Mississippi heat. I love supporting local no matter who's local it is and Margie's did a great job! Went in last minute to get a couple cupcakes for my birthday and I have to admit the cupcakes didn't last more than five minutes after getting into the car. My husband had the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and I had the Red Velvet Cheesecake. They were perfectly baked and I was so happy to find that the frosting on each wasn't a sugar bomb in your mouth! Normally I have to scrape off over half the frosting that's on most cupcakes because eating all of it makes me feel sick. Not the case here!
