Panera Bread — Restaurant in Meridian

I usually always love Panera Bread and never have anything bad to say, but after checking the website and seeing that the flatbread pizzas have been "Retired" I have to say that I am extremely disappointed. I don't know if maybe the pizzas weren't popular or something, but regardless I've noticed that they rotate some of their soups or other food products somewhat frequently and I can't understand the point of that. Why in the world are they introducing food items just to remove them temporarily or discontinue them altogether? Would it not be better for profit to keep all their items on the menu permanently? Some of these items that they so carelessly remove without warning can become someone's favorite thing to order from them, I would think that taking things off the menu would be bad for business. It also makes them seem unpredictable. I can think of when this has happened to me on more than one occasion, I would be thinking of something that I want from Panera Bread so I drive to the location to order from the drive thru just for them to tell me it's no longer avaliable. It makes me not want to come at all since I have no idea if what I want has been removed from the menu for some unknown reason. Now the flatbread pizzas are gone, which were seriously tasty and very well made. Yes I can always check the app or website before I get in the car and waste my time driving, but that is not the point. I am so disappointed by the removal of the flatbread pizzas that I will be searching for another business that has something similar, when I could have just been giving my business to Panera Bread. That's less money for their company from not only me, but probably a lot of other people as well. Was my first time coming here.. food was good. Had a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup and a chicken sandwich that was tasty. Only reason I am leaving a review really is the customer service. Like I said it was my first time in, I went up to the counter and said I had ordered a takeout order online. The lady behind the counter just stared at me. I gave her my name and she just looked at me like what the bell are you standing here for. Finally she decided to say something to me. Asked if I had ordered on DoorDash. I said I just placed the take out order on their website. She rudely rolled her eyes at me and just said “you are at the wrong window,” and pointed in the direction of a hidden takeout area in the other side of the restaurant. It made me feel stupid, so much so I felt the need to apologize to her and say that it was my first time. She just laughed at me. So I wandered off to find the takeout area. Then waited for quite some time, which is fine, I know times are tough right now. But after a while I had to ask about my order again, and again. Once I got it, it was very good like I said. But, as someone that has worked in the industry for over a decade.. I just felt like I was treated like I was stupid and didn’t know what was going on when I should have. I'm going to start out strong and simply put - I hate Panera. Ridiculously inflated prices for subpar food that will have you spending more time in the restroom than it took to eat your meal (TMI?). On 07/07/2021, I ordered a pick 2 meal Turkey avocado sandwich and side of Mac and Cheese. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it around $8.00 for the pick 2 meals before? And I swear the sandwiches were bigger. I paid $12.49 for the smallest meal I've ever ordered at a drive thru. Sandwich wasn't even good and the Mac and cheese has gone downhill. What was I to expect? Whatever. I'm just an upset customer who was left still hungry after paying 1.5x the minimum wage for a stupid fast food lunch. Ugh.

Also, I would love to know (or maybe I'm better off now) knowing what the hell kind of preservatives or flavor enhances Panera uses. I had a God-awful stomachache the entire rest of the day and next morning.

I never have luck with fast food places, especially as of lately. I guess I'll just have to start making my own lunch to much of my annoyance but at least I know...
