Decent food. Technically everything is the same, despite getting a burrito, salad, taco, etc. Tortilla, rice, beans, cheese and Pico with your choice of meat.
Pay attention to the menu and question everything as they rush you through the line. What I learned the hard way is that outside the core items on every itembecause they ask you if you want a topping doesn't mean it is included. My $8 burrito was $12 with the extra cheese smothered, with a dab of Guacamole and sour cream and mango salsa instead of the Pico. Get the extras on the side as they tend to give you a larger portion.
Their sweet pork is additive and yummy, sweet and spicy is a good mix.
One item to pay attention to is portion control. The meat is the high dollar item and they are inconsistent in the amount they use. My wife's small salad had more meat than my full size burrito. You can request for them to add a little more, but it's an 50/50 if they'll charge your3(
Watch out for the upsells as they ask you about every topping, even if it isn't included. My $7.99 burrito ended up over $12, as I got extra cheese, smothered, along with sour cream and guacamole and mango salsa.
I love the sweet pork burrito is excellent. Costa vida is a fast food restaurant. You fill up your own drink you grab your own napkins 20 knives and there's no good reason to actually leave a tip as I'm not sure what your tipping for given that they basically are running you through a cattle line and asking what you want on your burrito taco enchilada etcetera which is a minimum requirement actually...
Read moreI will preface this review by saying, I really enjoy Costa Vida's food. It has always been really tasty and I enjoy it. I recently had an experience with the management that prompted my review. Three weeks before my event I called and inquired about catering. I spoke to a gentleman who gave me information. I told him we were doing it on Labor Day weekend on a Sunday and it was for a Thank You party for my business I just opened. We had about forty people and wanted to have Costa Vida cater their taco bar. He said absolutely and gave me their prices and then said just call in the Friday before the event to confirm your order and make any changes and to pay. I called the Friday before and spoke with the manager, he stated that they were closed on Sundays. He said he was assuming the assistant manager (the gentleman I spoke with previously) was volunteering to do the event since they have no staff on Sundays. I prompted him to come up with a different solution or at the very least apologize and his response was he was sorry and there's nothing he could do. I could pick up the food Saturday night and reheat it and serve it on Sunday if I wished. Never once did he sincerely apologize for the predicament he put me in or offer to help me find alternative catering since. I am extremely displeased with the attitude and customer service of said manager and I hope that this review prompts...
Read moreWe like Costa Vita, but we don't love it. It's a Baja Fresh with a higher ceiling, noise level and price. This is definitely NOT a Mexican restaurant, it is Island fast food of the highest order and cost, just no room for a drive-thru. Go in and order a chile rellano,a chimichanga and a bowl of menudo to get that priceless deer in the headlights expression. The ranking of best Mexican in Meridian going to an island restaurant is an indicator of the local dearth of real Mexican food. The food really is tasty and salady fresh, but, unremarkable; with lots of lettuce, beans and rice. Definitely light on the meat, cheese and spice, so I have never been blown away with my chilly $10 tin of carboflora. Not hot, savory comfort food. We desperately miss On The Border, who sets the standard for Mexican chains. A well-run store, but lack of meat n cheese, extreme noise levels, and high prices each cost a star, cleanliness, friendly staff and freshness gets one back. As a Mexican place 2 stars, as an Island place 3.5 stars. This makes Costa Vida a great place for a special occasion lunch, or maybe a light...
