Oh, Hobby Lobby. One could get lost in their massive variety sold here.
Craft supplies? Anything you could think of. Fabric? Yup. Home decor? You betcha! (I didn't know this about Hobby Lobby the first time I went, and was a little in awe at the rows and rows of STUFF they have: lamps, frames, art, odd bits of furniture, random saying plaques, shelving, drawer pulls, man cave decor, candles, etc, etc, etc!) Holiday season decor/crafts? More than you could ever look through. Party supplies? Yes. And everything in between. Their variety is astounding. If you're into crafts or home decor, this place is for you.
Hobby Lobby is an openly-Christian corporation. You'll find Bible sayings mixed in among the home decor, and their stationary (yup, they sell greeting cards here, too!) section is prodmunatly Christian. But I wouldn't say it's obnoxious or shove-it-face at all. It'd just there. Also, they're closed on Sunday, so planaccordingly.
My only pet peeves: the music. It's all imsturmental piano, all the time. If you're here to browse, you'll eventually go mad, just putting it out there. Secondly, they don't use scanning technology at checkout. Everything is TYPED IN by the clerks by hand. Every. Single. Item. So if you're there to buy a bunch of jewelry making supplies, they're going to have to sort it all into brand, then price, then see if that brand is on sale, and if you have 100 small items, be prepared to be there forever. Come on, Hobby Lobby. I love you, but get with the program. It's just so simple to make a mistake, and though the clerks usually have it down, I'm always wondering...
But it's cheap, and half the store is 50% at all times: they switch off sections of the store every week. So time your trips right, and you'll never pay full price for everything. And don't forget to get your coupon before you go! There is a 40% off one item coupon permanently available at their website. Use it...
Read moreEverytime I go it always goes badly, like the recent incident when my cashier,a woman in her late 60s or so, was checking out my items and gave me a bad feeling as she didnt seem kind nor happy which id think at least kindness would be important to have especially if youâre a cashier. She typed in all the prices hazardly not seeming to care about stuff being on sale and about making sure she typed in the right prices. And as I stood there growing more worried by the second as I had already done the math I was caught off guard when she flatly said $97 dollars. Thats right $97 for 1 sheet of sticker flowers($6)(40%), foam brush set ($2), & a small cork board & a small letter board. I confronted her as she had just stood there impatiently and she doubled checked as I had to show her the prices & mentioned how they were 40% ect as thats the only reason I got them in the first place and then she just nonchalantly said âoh looks like I added $47 dollars on accidentâ I WAS SHOCKED like she literally didnt think twice about 4 items adding up to $97!!! Worst yet she didnt even seem surprised or sorry and didnât apologize she just seemed smug!!! So long story short im never going back there as every time something like that happens and im always the one that catches it...
Read moreWorst experience buying fabric. I went in to buy 3 yards of fabric with my 9 month old baby. I grabbed the fabric I needed and put it in the cart and on the way to the counter to get the fabric cut, my baby grabbed the cardboard that the fabric was wrapped around and put the corner in her mouth. I pulled it out and thought nothing of it till I was greeted by the 3 women at the counter. I wish I got the names of the other two women, but one of them was Pam. Pam was the nicest out of them, but still made me feel bad. They made me purchase ALL the fabric (10 yards when I only needed 3) because of the corner of cardboard that had a square inch wet from my teething baby. They had an awful attitude about it, and said things like âwow. You canât do that. I wouldnât even measure the fabric for you if it were just me hereâ all while being snarky. Surely they couldâve rewrapped the fabric around different cardboard or found a solution instead of shaming me and my 9 month old baby. I explained that my baby was teething and just mobile enough to quickly grab things if my back is turned for a second, to which they replied âyeah, you canât do thatâ which made me feel bad as a parent. I will never return to this store, I will be going to Joanneâs from now on. What...
