As stated in earlier reviews I have eaten in a lot of Indian places , but t this was the one that was closest to me expectation . Not knowing what to eat , being kinda cagey to order sonething .”, I finally ordered the paneer bhurji with chapathi. I was blown away as it was after a long time I felt like I was eating in India . Have had food at multiple places but they had something left to desire . This is because of the offering Americanized to the local pallete. This however hit all the notes and is the quintessential dhaba often encountered in India . . I would definitely try and be back to try other things on the menu . Don’t be put off by the ambience because underneath that shell I enjoyed a great meal after a long time
Edit ….returned here the second time . The last visit made me want to come back again . This time I tried the chole bhaturey and it was super amazing . As stated in review of early visit . The food is home cooked feel and instantly takes you back to India . None of those Americanized version of Indian dishes . Quintessential dhaba food . Will be back again for sure . Cant recommend these guys enough . Also on another note these guys comped me an extra serving of bhature which they didnt have to . Really nice guys . Overall an...
Read moreWent for lunch today with my kids. 22yo & I have been dying to try this place & finally got the chance! I had the lamb vindaloo, which was amazing. It was spicy but not as spicy as I was expecting. The lamb was cooked perfectly.- very tender. My 22yo had the chicken curry & it was also excellent. My 12yo ordered the tandoori shrimp but it ended up being too spicy for him (daughter & I had a couple bites & I bet we’ll end up fighting over those leftovers tomorrow lol). Luckily, my son LOVED the rice so he ate as much of that as he could. Oh, the mango drink (forget what it was called, sorry) was delicious! And when they tell you you’re ordering too much naan, you might want to listen to them.. unless, like my family, you really love naan (we have lots of garlic naan for lunch tomorrow, too)!
$14 might seem a bit steep for 1 entree (for some of us) but Punjab Palace FEEDS you! You’ll definitely go home with leftovers!
Besides the amazing food & very friendly people, my favorite part was that they didn’t have TVs or music BLARING, drowning out conversation.
I’ll definitely be back! I hope this place does well bc it’s now one of my favorite locally owned restaurants. (I only really like 1 other locally owned...
Read moreThis is the only Indian restaurant in Meridian. I wanted to go and try authentic Indian food to compare it to my homemade Indian food that I learned to make from TikTok. Anyway, it’s ok but like I said, mine was better and I’m not Indian. My main complaint is their God awful customer service. They have an attitude over the phone when taking orders, literally made fun of my name spelling. I told them the time I’d be there to pick it up and the guy told me what the current time is like I wasn’t aware. Anyway, I arrive and no one came to help. I saw 3 men walking in & out of the kitchen door, then go to the booths to play with their phone. I hit the bell twice and was ignored. I then called from inside the restaurant, heard the phone ringing and no answer. Then I hit the bell a bunch of times and a guy finally came out. I told him I was there for pickup and he asked me what I ordered. I go to tell him my order and then he said that I’m late picking up my order. I waited 20-25 minutes for someone to come to the front desk area!!!! I will never go back and will tell my family...
