I checked in about 6pm on a Thursday, on an impulse, to see if they had an item I knew my mother would love. I'd never visited this shop before. There were lots of prepackaged options, but what i was after for my mother could only be found in the case. I approached the case and looked around for an associate. A middle aged woman caught my glance and started toward me. I began to speak to her, but she cut me off and asked me to wait until she was closer. When she was nearer, I asked how long items in the case would keep. The holiday is a few weeks away and I wanted to learn if I was purchasing Christmas candy too early. She asked me which item. I said I wasn't sure yet, but was there a range of time the candies might stay fresh tasting. She repeated her question, well I need to know which item. I started to explain what I was thinking about Christmas and she cut me off and said the strawberries are only good a few days, but you could get a few weeks out of these and those (gesturing to different parts of the case), and packages have expirations on them. I acknowledged her answering my initial question and then noticed that the white chocolate version of the item I was looking for was sold out. I asked when a good time to come back for them might be and was again answered in a way that left me feeling like a dumb, pain in her rear. Apparently they are out of pretzels and don't know when they will get more pretzels so she could have no idea when I should come back. I politely thanked her for her time and swiftly departed. I will not be back. Shortages are understandable during a pandemic, but talking to someone in the exasperated way that she addressed me, when I was trying to be polite and efficient with my communication, was the deal breaker. It...
Read moreI have gone to this store often since it opened. Giving Russell Stover chocolates for gifts for family, friends and business. I even buy valentines chocolates for the entire staff at the huge beach resort I spend winters at on south padre island. However, the quality of the employees at the Merriam locarion has got worse over time. To the point I was so mad day before easter that I may not go there anymore. Gruff older lady was just plain rude and nasty. Not the one with limp, the other one. She was just horrible every time I asked her anything. Refused to give me a sample of a single candy on clearance even from Christmas!! Not like I was asking for her to open a bag or box or an expensive piece from in counter! Only a few samples stocked in basket either and just 2 kinds. I had already asked the other lady what my credit points thing was and was at 250. So I then asked her to remind me about what the process was on that. She just bluntly said "nothing". Just nothing! So many stores have so many programs for how much you spend etc, it is hard to remember what is at each place. Other employees will even sometimes let you know after checking out. Even like last time there before on valentines that I thought she said I was close, like just another 50.00. Anyway. She just treated me like I was just very much unwelcome since I dared to ask for some service! This lady is just so below what I would ever let work with my customers. She is more like somebody that needs to work night shift at a Motel 6 or neighborhood hole in the wall bar with her crude personality and lack of common manners. I know hiring is hard now, but this lady is beyond scraping the bottom of the barrel and not worth the customers she is losing this...
Read moreToday was the worst visit out of the four times I bought fudge this month. The drive through is never attended. No one tells you this, or even has the idea to maybe cover the drive-thru sign. The workers cut fudge with dirty spatulas that sit in a container of water, so, I guess they dont have to wash them. They cut the fudge and get it all wet. This has happened several times. Today I asked for a pound of fudge for a gift. The older woman, who came out of the back, acted like I asked for the moon. I asked that she use a dry spatula. I took the box and opened it to discover that all the pieces were just shoved into the box without even being wrapped. They would have been ruined by the following day. I asked the girl at the reguster if they could be wrapped, as they were a gift. The girl took the box, turned around, sat it on the counter and began ringing up people who were after me. I understand people are short handed but, if you don't want to do a good job, then don't bother going to work. The older woman left the room when she had cut my fudge. There were 22 people in the store, and yet the woman never came back out to help the poor girl who was all by herself and didnt even offer to help her. Just aweful service and...
