Mimi's Handmade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Merrifield

I recently had a terrible experience at this ice cream shop. I ordered the durian flavor, but it was melting and dripping in the employee's hand. When I asked her to make another one, she misunderstood or was too scared of the owner. She tried to clean the cup and gave it back to me with the ice cream almost completely melted. The Super Oreo I got for my daughter was extremely sweet, like eating a scoop of sugar.

When I checked out, I wanted to talk to the owner and hoped she would resolve the issue, but she was extremely rude and unpleasant. She saw the melted ice cream but still had an attitude, making me want to leave as quickly as possible. My daughter, despite witnessing everything, still said "thank you" to the owner, but she ignored my daughter's kind gesture.

I rarely post negative reviews, but my experience was beyond subpar. The owner/employee couldn't have been more rude. Walked in when not a single person was inside, was never greeted, just stared at as I looked around. Asked for a sample and she shoved the spoon right on my hand smearing the ice cream and not even offering a napkin. Ended up getting a small cup even though I was already turned off by the service, and to make things worse, the ice cream was extremely melty! It made sense why there weren't any customers inside on a 90° Saturday early afternoon. I regretted not going to the few other surrounding ice cream shops. Word of advice, good customer service goes a long way in the food industry. Unfortunately there's no way I'll ever go back nor recommend this business. As someone with lactose intolerance, I was very excited to try the dairy-free ice cream (not sorbet, but ice cream!) I had done my research, and I was tired of sorbets being the only option at ice cream parlors.

But unfortunately when I visited, I was super disappointed to find that they didn’t have ANY of the vegan favors available that they list on their website. And the guy behind the counter didn’t seem to know much about their vegan options besides the sorbet :(
