We ordered the #1, but we were treated like number two. Before I get to the customer service maltreatment, you’re reading this to hear about the food. The lobster was very fresh and pretty good. It is good lobster considering we are in the desert and that paying $10 for it. I have no complaints about the lobster. The bun disintegrated within a few bites because it is soggy and flimsy. I expected a tasty, toasted bun. The fries were crunchy and very mediocre. The sauce was tangy and rich, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, I know people who think it’s too rich and too tangy, overwhelming the lobster. The lemonade was very basic and a tad on the sour side. The ordering experience was a little tense, as we felt we were ordering soup in a Seinfeld episode. You better know what you want and you better get it right. The people behind you in line will not appreciate indecisiveness or delays. This was our first time here. When we got to the small sandwich board and saw the menu, we quickly selected our meals. The people in front of us grabbed their food from the window and were gone within seconds, so we felt pretty rushed when we got up to place our order and pay at the first window. We stated that we wanted two #1 meals. The girl at the other end of the drive-through speaker asked, “Whadriduywanwithonumawuns?” She spoke so rapidly that it was unintelligible. We asked for clarification. She repeated her question once again at a speed that only the FBI could decipher with high-tech equipment. I politely asked her to repeat the question, stating that we could not understand her. She replied, in a hyper-condescending tone as follows: “WHAT. DRINKS. DO. YOU. WANT. WITH. YOUR. NUMBER. ONES?!!” She and a girl adjacent to her, began to laugh. One would think that, if you’re going to mock your customers, you kill the freakin’ mic! Nope, not this girl. She was extremely condescending, and quite proud of it. As a foodie and local guide, I know that I have many other options in this huge city. Will I miss good lobster on a disintegrating roll with mediocre fries and lemonade? Probably. The lobster is really good and very cheap. But I’m not going to be treated like crap. I will find another Angie’s location. I work in an industry where customer service is critical. The girl needs an intervention this week so that she can be properly trained. UPDATE: I heard they had a breakfast menu, so I stopped by there this morning. There were three options, I believe. I got the one with sausage. So the sausage was good. The eggs tasted like scrambled eggs, and the steak fries tasted like steak fries with seasoning on them. It was good. It was not great. It was very average. They need to stick to their lobster game, which they do very well. And yes, I have been back since my original post. The lobster really is that good. 2nd UPDATE: today I tried the prime grill and got my wife a steak salad, Mexican style. She said it was really good. I ordered the spicy honey grilled lobster sandwich. When I got home, they did not give me lobster, but rather, colossal fried shrimp. it was actually...
Read moreFinally made my way out to the drive-thru location of Angie's Lobster. I was surprised to see no line but it made for a quick turnaround. My husband and I both got the warm lobster roll meal. I opted for lemonade and my husband chose sweet tea for a beverage.
It was a quick in and quick out. The customer service at the window could improve. It was just like a simple push out of our bag of food and there was no like short greeting of "hello, here's your meal, have a good day!". I'm just saying, it would be a nice standard gesture. Regardless, after a strange hesitation on whether we had gotten everything since no one really signaled a normal greeting we drove away with our food.
The lobster roll was much smaller than it looks in the photo. I guess I was expecting something more abundant but I get it. As soon as we dug into the food, the deliciousness took over. The fries were okay, nothing too special but they complimented the lobster roll well. The sauce provided was amazingly good. I wasn't sure if it was for the fries or roll but I poured it on both! Well worth the visit.
My only suggestions for improvement:
Improved customer service at the window Provide a bit more napkins (for a meal that could be messy because of the buttered roll and sauce, there was only one napkin each for my husband and I) Better packaging for sauce (maybe poured into the small sauce container cups instead). It was first off, difficult to open the sauce and second not everyone wants to drench their food in sauce.
Other than those, I'm sure we'll be coming back and hopefully there will also be more locations for convenience.
Definitely recommend trying...
Read moreAngie's is pretty solid, I have to say. I'm from Massachusetts, so I have some serious expectations with lobster. Not a fan of the rock lobster that is far more common. Angie's hits the price point just right. Lobster isn't the best I've had (obviously being away from the shore), but is pretty good. I've tried all versions, hot, cold, fried, and they are all good. Exactly like I'd expect from it. Lobster meat isn't quite the same flavor or texture I remember, gives off a frozen vibe, but it's ok. Lobster meat has been a little more 'fishy' smelling and grittier (assume from freezing) than fresh, so I pulled one star for it. But seriously you can't get a meal like they offer for $10 (for roll, drink, and fries or $8.50 for a roll only as of this in September 20223) even on the shore in Mass. Try the options of lobster meat and find something you like. After the lobster, you have their fries, drinks, and sauces. Fries have been great every time I've gone and you get a nice sized helping. Sauces are good as well, butter and Angie's sauce were good for lobster, bread, fries, and any combinations in between. I really enjoyed their Angie's energy drink, the berry cream version was good but a little too much for me, and their cold brew is better than Salad and Go (another $1 drink competitor). It's not something I'd continue going out of my way for, but once in a while it's great. If it was closer, it would probably be weekly.
TLDR Angie's has everyone beat in the price game for tasty and unique fast food on Arizona. This includes both food and drinks , keep up...
