Monday July 22, 2019 My first time visiting here. I am a burger guy and I was very pleased to find out Monday's special was regular burgers for $6 with the purchase of a drink.
I ordered the Port Wine burger, and the Southwest BBQ burger medium rare. I had fries on the side for both. Yes, I ate both burgers...
I had the port wine burger first. It was cooked to medium well, instead of medium rare. I really like this burger and the flavor combinations it had were perfectly balanced. The inner side of the bun was toasted and added that extra bit of flavor to it as well.
What I really really liked though were the french fries. They were just crispy enough, perfectly sized in width. They weren't shoes string and they weren't steak style fries. To be honest I wish I could have taken a bucket of those bad boys home.
The Southwest BBQ burger was medium. The BBQ sauce had a sweet taste to it but not too sweet. Just the right amount of BBQ sauce on it. The tiny bacon pieces on it were a little crisp and kind of distracting. But the crispness preference of bacon is as varied as which soda is better.
The burgers came with thin slices of onion. I liked that because many places put on a real thick slice of onion and it overwhelms the other flavors in the burger. Lettuce was nice and crisp. The tomato slice was fine.
Speaking of soda, I had the root beer. It had great flavor and wasn't watered down at all. Just enough fizz to not overwhelm you while drinking it.
The pickle which came with each burger plate didn't have too much flavor, but was still a nice addition.
They have plenty of tv's there so you can catch almost any event currently happening.
The table was nice and clean. The server was really on top of her game and was checking in on me often. The manager was making rounds and talking with guests also making sure everything was going well.
Thanks for a great experience. I'll be back...
Read moreWe have lived in the area for YEARS & I don’t know why we never tried it. We were trying to figure out dinner & everywhere we talked about was closed. I googled restaurants in our area & found Fat Willys. The menu was descriptive so we agreed to give them a try. It was 9:30 & they closed at 10. We put in an order for two entrées & two appetizers. They had it done in 10 minutes. The staff was Friendly, nice & polite. They went above & beyond! They repeated our order back, and made sure to add the extra sauces we asked for & everything was in the bag! I’m sad that we’ve spent this much time in the area, five minutes from Fat Willys & we have never tried it. We will be loyal customers for as long as we live here. The food was amazing!! The steakhouse burger is the best hamburger I’ve had since the 90s and the route 44 Burger at Ed Debevics! Their southwest eggrolls were one of the best I’ve had! Their prices were very reasonable. Their amazing Steakhouse Burger was big & lower priced than a large size big Mac meal & 1 million times better! All the flavors accented each other! The bacon was perfectly crisp! The blue cheese & balsamic vinegar melted together perfectly with the crispy onions! The bun was toasted to perfection! Everyone in my family tasted the burger & agreed! Exceptional! We did takeout & everything came that was on the order & was plated nicely! They had the extra sauces we asked for, wet wipes & an even included a lollipop! We will definitely be back! Thank you for making our first “visit” a memorable one & today’s dinner a treat!!! My only advice...
Read moreI am a 67-year-old minority female. I visited the Fat Willy's location on baseline east of Ellsworth west of crimson. The three non-minority waitresses discriminated against my older sister and older aunt and myself. They refused to take our order. They sat and wrapped silverware. They refused to provide service to us. We were humiliated!!! These three waitresses asked a waiter working the other side of the restaurant to take our order. I had a flashback to the late 60s early 70 when Denny's was found guilty of discriminating against minorities. These three waitresses did the same thing that the Denny's employees did in the late 60 and early 70s. The bad behavior / bad attitude of these three waitresses is a reflection of their parents and grandparents. We should have eaten next door at Matta's instead. Shame on the manager of Fat Willy's on Baseline and Crimson, who tried to minimize our feelings and the blatant discrimination displayed by these disrespectful waitresses. Keep your free appetizer to silence our voices! If you are a minority don’t spend your money there. I had to use the restroom, but I waited as I could not get out of there fast enough. We ended up stopping at McDonald's to use their restroom. We had coffee and ice cream at McDonald's and discussed how sad we feel. America still discriminates and has never stop discriminating. By the way, the food was alright. Hopefully the employees didn't spit on our food. It was clear that we were not...
