Though we have lots of neat Sushi places in Orange County, RA Sushi has become our regular haunt of late! Tucked away in one corner of The District at Tustin, its comfortable and pretty seating options (both indoor and outdoor) and relaxed, casual vibe help you unwind after a long day. Add to that a neat happy hour menu with nominally priced yummy items, and this place becomes hard to RA-sist! The Viva Las Vegas roll is our favorite item on the menu - not only does it look good, it is quite tasty too. The Japanese Mule is our favorite drink at this place, but with winter right around the corner, we've switched over to the flavored Hot Sake which is nice. We tried the Spicy Chili Garlic RAmen during a recent visit, and though I won't rank it as one of the best I've had, it was not bad. The Hot Mess, on the other hand, was top-notch - a hot version of the Sushi rolls, it was absolutely delicious! The staff and servers are always friendly and polite, and even if we're the only set of people who insist on sitting outdoors on cold nights, they always turn on the heater so that we feel warm and cozy. Rest assured that the $20 RA gift certificate that I received recently for my birthday was put to good use, though it's a bummer that the certificate can't be clubbed with happy hour or be applied to drinks (and you need to print it out in an era when we should be going green!)

This place is terrible! I’ve never experienced such distasteful behavior in a business establishment such as this! Me and my husband came in for a quick lunch and we’re treated like trash.I was given dirty water, there was food particles floating around in the cup luckily I didn’t drink it. My husband had to go out to our work truck to get me a bottled water. The wait staff stood around and gossiped more than worked, we sat there staring at them all, said excuse me multiple times to multiple employees and we were given dirty looks, eye rolls and then ignored. Then suddenly they would walk over to wipe down tables that were already clean and noone was using, mind you there were only 6 other tables besides ours! This is the second time we came here and the first time it was pretty bad service also. I’ll never come to this location again. I felt very discriminated and uncomfortable. The manager came out to speak to us before we left after we asked for him 3 times and waiting patiently, our quick lunch turned into almost an hour during this slow time of 120- 215 -it wasn’t busy at all. When the manager came he apologized and said he was going to bring our check which was only $24 I asked if we could just get our check asap because we were ready to leave he then came back and said he would cover there check, not sure why he did that it didn’t change the discriminating treatment we received. My husband and I work hard in HVAC we were a little dirty just because were in work clothes, but that shouldn’t make a difference it doesn’t give anyone the right to mistreat us we work hard and make good money, and we’re good tippers too! I’ll never be back here and I’ll make sure to tell everyone what happened a this location! Wish I could give a negative 5 stars! I even have a video of the staff and the behavior, wish I could post it 🤷🏼♀️ they couldn’t pay me to come back here!

My boss and coworkers decided to come here for a late lunch on a random Wednesday. There was about 19 of us so I’m definitely keeping that in mind when talking about the wait time. It wasn’t busy when we arrived - only a few parties here and there. Thankfully, the staff was quick to push some tables together outside to fit all of us. We got our drinks ordered and then ordered our food not long after that. The appetizers came out quick enough, but it was a long hour or so of waiting before the last person’s main dish arrived to the table. I ordered salmon nigiri and the tootsy maki. Other dishes were quicker than others, but some of my coworkers hadn’t gotten anything they ordered by the time I had finished BOTH of my items. I must say, for how much some of the speciality rolls are, I wasn’t blown away by the food I got. The salmon nigiri tasted good enough, but the tootsy maki was just… kinda there. I honestly felt like I was eating a regular miscellaneous fish roll. Also, my boss let me try one of his viva Las Vegas rolls and it had a lot of components and surely was a massive roll, but it didn’t have much flavor. I was expecting some kind of punch for how cool the entire display is and how many things are actually in the roll, but no. I was disappointed. My tootsy maki roll was mostly the same way. I was just eating it because I was hungry. Also, the plates they gave us for the appetizers were definitely dirty; they clearly had residue on them. I can see why this place has 3.3 stars on Yelp and only 4 stars on Google.

i really debated on leaving this review because i used to absolutely love this place. we’d always come here to celebrate events as a family and i can say within the past few years.. it’s gone downhill:( i hate to say it but it has. one of the last times i had visited there was a hair in every single dish i was served and i honestly was in disbelief. granted, i’m a hairdresser and hair doesn’t typically bother me but in every dish.. something’s not right there. my husband took us in for our 1 year anniversary as a surprise for me because he knows i love sushi but unfortunately the service was awful. on october 15 the bar tender was our waitress and she was so consumed by the drunk men at the bar and entertaining them that she didn’t really check on us only once. not to mention, the second that the men left the bar tender completely dragged their names through the mud and said how much she wanted them to leave because they were so loud. i understand- but announcing it to the whole restaurant is not the way to go. then the hostess kept flipping off the sushi bar guy- caleb was his name? and it was just so unprofessional. it was our one year anniversary and we didn’t really feel special to be honest. they wrote happy anniversary on our dessert which was much appreciated but i just wish it was more. they were not busy either that night which if they were busy i’d give them more slack but they only had 3/4 tables. i don’t think we’ll be back. try blue wasabi instead- their food is so good!

The Good: Lemongrass Ginger Mule, Assistant Manager David. The Bad: No printed menus. Be aware that the only option to look at a menu will be online and their QA code failed to work so we had to download a QA reader. Should you choose to visit RA do yourself a favor and look at the menu online before you go. The Ugly: The food. As a sushi fanatic, sadly this was by far the worst I've ever had, and the miso soup served with it was like cold dishwater. Grocery store maki rolls have more appeal. Disappointment was had by each of us. A tasteless teriyaki with undercooked rice was beat out for the worst dish of the table by the salt saturated seafood hibachi that was so bad it was sent back. Our waitress (my apologies I don't recall her name) did what she could to be helpful, as did David, an assistant manager. Their efforts, attempts and offers to resolve the issues we experienced, though irreversible, were genuine. We thank them for trying. Hopefully our feedback, and that of others, will reach the corporate level and make a significant impression as to how poor the food quality has become by using their prepackaged frozen dinner type production processes.

*This review is for the sushi* If you're coming here for the fish, don't. I was craving a sashimi bowl and figured RA would be open on Easter. I had low expectations since RA is a chain and I don't expect to have life-changing sushi experiences at a chain, but I still found the sashimi did not meet my expectations. For 22 dollars RA advertises 4 pieces of salmon, 4 pieces of yellowtail, 4 pieces tuna, 2 pieces octopus, 2 pieces shrimp, and 3 pieces of whitefish. Seems like a good deal, but it wasn't. Tuna and salmon were above-average, whitefish was good. Yellowtail was okay. Octopus was nothing special. Shrimp was fishy and I couldn't even eat the second piece. Plating was beautiful. However, sashimi pieces were laughably small. Especially the whitefish-- I could hardly believe it! My 3 pieces of whitefish were the equivalent of 1 normal-sized piece. I felt a little ripped off. It made me wonder if they were running out of fish, in which case, they should have told me so that I could save my money and get a full entree elsewhere. Needless to say, I won't be back here for sashimi.
