Read moreI feel like the quality of this place isn't there like it was when there were fewer locations. (I'm thinking of the original Tempe location, way back.) Even this particular location has kind of slipped in quality over the ladt year or two.
The person taking our takeout order today was very lovely and kind. (No issues there, although several months ago, I heard an employee say something very lewd to her co-worker. Could have been a joke or an irritation over something, but it was loud and public.)
Today I got my usual salad. The chicken in it was not very flavorful, like it hadn't really been marinated at all. I ordered fresh mozarella as an extra and that was the only thing that saved this salad at all. I asked for extra golden raisins, and you're charged for them, which seems a bit hard to believe, since there aren't that many in the first place, they're a tablespoon of hard raisins, and this food is way too expensive in the first place. I believe the pine nuts had some sort of seasoning on them, but it just tasted stale.
The portion size was big, so I guess that's a plus, but it was a lot of lettuce with a LOT of parsley, and not enough dressing to cover it. In fact, even the dressing was kind of watered down, at least compared to what I remember it used to be.
This wasn't the worst meal by a long shot, but I just don't think it is worth 17 dollars (without my extras-I think without them, you'd have parsley flavored stale pine nuts in lemon juice, though.) It may be a while before I try this place again, and I'm for sure done with this salad. It's a shame, because I appreciate the menu options and...
Read moreI just had the weirdest experience. I met a friend for dinner at this Pita Jungle. I ordered the nachos with no beans and extra cheese and a side of vegetables. The "nachos" came out as a plate full of chips with some weird sauce on them (not how they are normally made). I called the waitress over and she confirmed they didn't look right. She talked to the kitchen who said the chips might burn because the beans aren't on them. I said "I'll take my chances." I reminded her "no beans, extra cheese." They came out more normal but definitely without extra cheese. The waitress recognized this and took them back again. Then I witnessed her have a conversation with about 5 people in the kitchen. The one I assume was the cook appeared to angrily talk to her while making a crossing motion with his arms in universal "no way" gesture. This went on for a few minutes. The waitress brought the plate back and told me the cook said he had layered the cheese in the chips. So I looked... and there was no layered cheese. She told me that they were willing to melt some cheese separately and send it out to me... I politely asked her to just cancel the order and take it off my bill. The waitress was extremely gracious, apologized and said "I don't know why that was so hard." I gave 2 stars because the waitress was fantastic and I've had good experiences in the past. But the rude lazy cook kind of ruined it...
Edit: Updated from 2 stars to 4 stars because the owner reached out and plans on addressing what occurred. I appreciate them...
