In my ongoing quest to make more mindful choices when it comes to my culinary adventures, I found myself lured by a friend's co-worker’s glowing recommendation of this establishment, although it turned out that her endorsement was exclusively centered around their nachos. Nevertheless, undeterred, I ventured into the world of this restaurant, keen to explore what else they had to offer.
My culinary odyssey began as I attempted to navigate their innovative tablet-based ordering system. Unfortunately, it seemed that technology wasn't entirely on my side that day, as I encountered a glitch that prevented me from customizing my order with a gluten-free bun. I sought the assistance of a friendly employee, whose efforts to resolve the issue fell short. However, with their gracious offer to take our order in person, we seized the opportunity, opting to begin our gastronomic journey with those highly touted nachos.
It didn't take long for those nachos to live up to their reputation. A symphony of flavors danced on my palate as the "cheese" sauce flawlessly embraced each tortilla chip, courtesy of a powerful buffalo sauce that truly stole the show. It's worth noting that the cauliflower wasn’t large florets, but rather seemed to just be riced cauliflower.
In the tranquil confines of the restaurant, we found ourselves virtually alone, save for the occasional visit from a couple of delivery drivers on a quest to collect their orders. Yet, the solitude of the dining space allowed us to savor every bite and relish the exceptional nachos, maintaining their crispy integrity, thanks to the brilliant absence of chip-sogging cheese.
With an appetite for exploration, I sought advice from our helpful server, pondering the choice between a beet burger and a bean burger. The server's recommendation leaned towards the beet burger, a selection informed by its delectable avocado accompaniment.
Upon the arrival of our chosen dishes, the gluten-free bun made a delightful impression, boasting a commendable texture and taste. However, the beet burger itself, displayed a somewhat softer consistency than expected. To my dismay, the sweet potato fries, while enticing, were marred by an overzealous seasoning of salt. This abundance of sodium limited my indulgence to just a few bites.
In summation, I wholeheartedly endorse a visit to this establishment for a takeout order of those exceptional nachos. However, I'd advise a measure of caution when exploring the broader menu, especially given its penchant for frying. Despite its vegan offerings, deep-fried delights are a prevalent theme here. So, remember, as you embark on your own culinary journey, the nachos are a destination worth visiting, but the other offerings may require a more discerning palate and an appetite...
Read moreThis is my new favorite vegan spot!
We were in the area and wanting a healthy option. We purposely ordered multiple items so we could get a feel for the menu.
Positives: The employees were very gracious, attentive, and helpful. Everything was full of flavor, filling and not “obviously” vegan-tasting. (You could take a non-vegan here and they would not be disappointed). The portion sizes were good relative to the price.
Negatives: The gluten free options were not readily identified on the menu. I didn’t take a star away for this because the staff was very aware of what had gluten and was able to assist.
What we ate: Black bean burger - We went for no bun for two reasons. Prior reviews mentioned the bun dwarfing the burger and I am personally particular about GF buns. We added avocado and the flora of the hummus, burger and avocado married well together. So much flavor was packed in that patty. It was absolutely delicious. I think a bun would have actually detracted from the flavors being front and center! Chai tea - It had a different taste than I’m used to because of the coconut milk, but I was really tasty. Be sure to stir well so you have a balanced drink. It was refreshing. Arnold Palmer - It was less sweet than I’m used to having in an Arnold Palmer. It tasted more like water with some hints of tea and lemon. It was fresh but not distinctively sweet. It was OK, but I would likely not get it again. Buffalo cauliflower nachos - This was so delicious!!!! I’m not a fan of very spicy buffalo sauce but this was perfect with the level of spiciness. I have to figure out how to make these because it was truly so delicious I couldn’t stop eating it. I even think I would get extra jalapeños next time. I’ve never had anything that tasted like this before but it was amazing! Chickpea Caesar salad - This was so good. I don’t know how they got chickpeas to taste better than croutons, but I could eat this salad every day! It was flavorful and so tasty.
We were super impressed with all the food and will...
Read moreI’ve been here twice. The food was incredible but the customer service is the worst; same girl both times. First, they make you stand so far back from the counter which is blocked by tables and everyone is crammed into a tiny space to wait to order/pick up. Not ideal, but overlookable. The first time I was there, my mom and I ordered and then waited outside. There were NO other customers anywhere near this place and we waited forever until finally coming in to check on the food. Turns out it was ready, but we had to go in and pick it up. She couldn’t have walked outside with it or let us know it was up? I decided to overlook this though since the food was SO good, and today I even attempted to buy a $40 gift certificate for someone but I wouldn’t want to subject them to a similar experience. Here’s what happened:
My husband went inside and I stayed with our baby in the car. There were no customers in there but she asked if she could deal with an order before assisting him and he said OK. She disappeared for like ten minutes only to reappear when some other customers came in for a pick up. She then proceeded to bypass him to assist them instead. When they deferred to him because he was there first, she ignored them and continued to inquire about their order. Mind you, he had already told her that we just wanted a $40 gift certificate. At this point, he explained that his baby was crying in the car and he needed to be able to check out right then or would need to go. She asked for two more minutes (Why?? We’re not sure) and he couldn’t wait any longer so we left. They lost $40, two customers and the customer that it was meant to be gifted to. Not worth the good food to put up...
