The Pub N Grub — Restaurant in Mesa

UPDATE: This is a great spot if you want a dive bar with cheap prices and solid food. But the service is painfully slow. Our first visit was FANTASTIC. Lightning speed on service (this was a Friday evening so may have had additional staff). But we've been back 5 or so times on the weekend, and the service is rough. I think it's because the bartender is the server, and if you're seated at the tables, it's a very long wait. These past visits, our orders were always missing something, and this last time was so long we had to pay out our bill for our drinks because I was so starving I could not wait any longer. I think our server forgot our order because she didn't write it down (we were a party of 4) and it was over an hour of waiting with only 1 other table occupied. When we said we just could not wait any longer for food and would like to settle up, there was no explanation or apology, nor even a statement that our food would be out in a moment. It was like we didn't matter at all. Oh, and our drink order came out incorrectly, but again, it was not written down. Really sad because I loved it here. I just wish they would hire a bartender AND a server. It's great if you're not hungry and don't care how long you wait.

This place is amazing!!! Amazingly fast and attentive service, beer-clean mugs (foam retention was perfect) and really clean lines because the beer tasted incredibly fresh, and the food was spot-on!!! We could not have asked for a better place. And the prices? Well, when we got the check it felt like Christmas in July! And it wasn't even Happy Hour! They are just THAT good. Went on Friday 04/21/2023 The food was okay but the service my 3 friends and I got makes me never want to go back ever again. Our server was one of the rudest people I've ever met and generally I don't even write reviews but I feel like it's worth it to tell how awful this was and if I knew the servers name I would give it.

I have never had a server turn away from me ordering in mid-sentence. Practically made my friend cry. She also forgot almost every single order we made and charged us for drinks we didn't end up getting and barely said a word to us. By far the worst service experience I have ever had in any restaurant or bar. On top of it she dropped our checks on the floor when we were going to leave.

Needless to say she didn't get a tip on a $100 tab and easily never deserved it. If I was management I would seek corrective actions. You cannot treat your customers like that. Where the local bar loves its locals, and everyone else too. Everything about this bar screams original. From it's menu, to its owner. By far the best local bar in Southwest Mesa. By far the best neighborhood bar in Arizona. The 'Cheers' of Mesa, 'where everybody knows your name'. But really, where do I start? The well priced beer? The fantastic food that is freshly served, and cooked in front of you that will satisfy your well-being AND wallet? The legendary chef (pictured) who grills and makes meals to perfection? Truly remarkable work. The burger, hands down fantastic. The wings, hands down incredible. The sandwiches, hands down unbelievable. Guess what, get a personal pitcher of beer, pours about two.5 glasses, about $3.25. With a burger, wings, or sandwich, whichever you choose - you'll walk out of the place feeling like a better human being and local contributor to the community for less than $10.
