My wife and I were big fans of Belvedere when they opened but after several poor experiences in a row (poor service, food quality, out of menu choices, etc) we decided we would not be returning. Thus, we were less than enthused when we recevied a gift card to the Padre over the holidays. However, my wife and I had a "date" night arranged so we decided to use the gift card (free is free) and go back to the Belvedere. Wow. Service was great, knowledge of menu was strong, and we weren't told "sorry, we are out of that" one time. We started out with a Padre salad and Pork Bellly appetizer which were both very good. The Pork Belly "Picnic" was an inspired mix of sweet and savory that enhanced rather than overpowered, the pork belly. I had the ribeye which was seasoned to perfection and while slightly undercooked, was fabulous. My wife ordered the braised short rib which she devoured. The only negative was that it was so very small it was not sufficient to satisfy even a petite female. Sides were very good as well (brussel sprouts with bacon, wild mushrooms and grilled broccoli rabe with cauliflower). My wife has a dairy allergy and the wait staff and chefs went out of there way to make sure they eliminated the dairy from her plate without sacrificing flavor. They even created a special desert for her while I ordered the cheese plate which was good but nothing out of the ordinary as far as selections. The wine selection is limited (especially by the glass) and the first glass they brought my wife was obviously from a bottle that had been opened for at least a few days. However there was no pushback when we asked them to open a new bottle for us (which they did at table side). Overall a great experience. Based upon our history we don't know what to expect when we return but at least now we will return although based upon our prior history, they will be on a short leash as far as...
Read moreOn a Sunday, April 9th I took a guest from out of town for a gyro. Samuel was "wonderful" the gyro meat was tender, hot and seasoned well (not salty) and the bread was browned, hot and not hard. DELICIOUS, bite for bite. I even purchased one to take home to my niece who travels a great deal and later she wanted more. Three days later I took my other sister. My sister enjoyed her gyro, pictures on the wall and we reminisced about our mother and the foods she use to cook us at home. My taste buds, ,, were not happy ,,on the visit, they were missing something,,, I tried to complete the meal 'But' something was not right,,,what was it? I noticed my french fries on top were hot and long , the french fries on the bottom they were short, hard and warm. The meat was not hot and tender as it was on my first visit and it was salty. I didn't want to ruin my sister's enjoyment so I never said a word about my disappointment to Samuel or the other staff. Because my first experience was so wonderful, I might take others there in the future. But request everything to be fresh for me it I should order a gyro.
I really think this place is better than any other place I've been for a gyro. My first experience a true "5" star. Second visit a hard, salty, warm "3". (sorry, Samuel but you...
Read moreMy partner and I were looking for some Mediterranean style food in Mesquite. We usually travel to a few places in Plano which is quite a drive for us just for dinner. But, we saw Yia Yia House of Gyros in Mesquite and decided to give them a try. Let's just say it was the best decision ever! Y'all, the food was very authentic and definitely fills you up and is fresh. Believe me when they say things are cooked fresh they mean it! The flavors were just so awesome the excellent customer service from the owner as well as the hostess Miss Ariana... and the follow up during the meal was awesome. I felt like they were my friends and I was over at their house. The hospitality was warm and friendly. I figured at 7:45 p.m. when we went that things would die down and they would be getting ready to close at 9, but, many calls came in for orders and many people came in for carryout or dine-in. We are so grateful to have found this Greek gem in the heart of Mesquite! Definitely this will be our main restaurant to go to. The Greek Donuts were awesome. The tzatziki and pita appetizer was so delicious. We both had the gyro platter which was so fresh fragrant and tasty! Please stop by and give them a try. They take call in orders, they participate in ubereats, and you can do dine-in...
