I had a beautiful lunch today at the Lime Leaf Thai Eatery. The first thing that jumps out at one as one endures a hankering for Thai is the name. What a lovely collection of evocative words. The second is the rating, 4.8 on the Google. It is rare for a restaurant that is open for lunch to enjoy such a reputation and so I simply had to make the trip from far afield Metro New Orleans. As one steps into the place, it's hopping on a Wednesday. A great sign. Local yats are abuzz with talk of real estate taxes, the upcoming election, and their exploits in the field of engineering. I selected the green curry with seafood and it was incredible. Curry was expertly flavored, a tremendous balance of sweet, salty, and spicy. Most approvingly the seafood was fresh and very plump and expertly prepared. And I think this is where the 0.8 comes from. Clearly, The Leaf, as I will now call it, cares ineffably about freshness and wants to serve the very best product to its patrons. One probably already knows this as the patrons themselves care an awful lot about quality, too, the parking lot dotted with Volvos and BMWs and Infinities. I ate so deliciously and uninterruptedly and splendidly I did not notice how loud the Yats were. And now, some three hours on, this splitting headache is...
Read moreWe visited for dinner on a Thursday night, and the place was buzzing with energy. We were greeted promptly and made our way to the table. We ordered a bottle of wine—while the selection wasn’t extensive, it was definitely acceptable. Plus, they allow you to bring your own wine for a $15 corking fee, which we thought was very reasonable.
All three of us absolutely loved our meals. My husband said it was the best pad Thai he’s ever had. My friend and I both chose the massaman curry—one with chicken and one with tofu. It was perfectly seasoned and served piping hot.
I did want to mention that I had ordered the tofu massaman, intending to just swap out the chicken for tofu. However, when it arrived, there were quite a few extra vegetables in my curry. Our waitress, Naomi, immediately noticed I wasn’t happy with it and quickly communicated with her manager, Patrick. They insisted on having a fresh dish made, and the new one was absolutely delicious! Service was wonderful!!!
The whole experience was fantastic—great food, wonderful management, and attentive service. It truly makes a difference, and we’ll definitely be...
Read moreFirst, I want to say that the service was great and our server was very nice and accommodating. Second, the atmosphere was not a typical atmosphere of a Thai restaurant; we know this because my wife is from Thailand and I have traveled there many times to visit her family. Lastly, but most importantly the food. I will be honest with my review; the food was not even close to true Thai cuisine. Being my wife is from Thailand and eating her food as well as her mom's food this is very subpar on the authenticity. First, they did not have Som Tum (Papaya Salad) as the server said it was a special dish they offer, but it was not on the menu today. This is a staple of any Thai restaurant or a true Thai family dish. The flavors of an authentic Thai dishes were truly not there. Every dish we had was extremely sweet and bland. I hate to say this and I hate to leave negative reviews, but we do not recommend this establishment for an authentic Thai experience. You will be...
