DDC - Dining During Covid… you already know!!!! (in my Big Freedia voice) Visited with my friend for a mid-day brunch & we happened upon Sala. Located in the West End area, this location is kinda like a little duck-off; if you know then you know. As I stated, the location is nice, a little compact because of the condos in the area & the amount of traffic, but this still is a nice place for a brunch or dinner. The indoor decorum is modern, minimalist & elegant; just like I like it. Seating is spaced out, which also adds to the appeal of the restaurant. Looks like this place could be on the cover of a "kinda sort of but not too ritzy restaurant" magazine. Once indoors we requested an outdoor table. However, it was advised that the only one that was vacant was actually set aside for a reservation, bummer. But, we were FAVORED enough to see a table that was becoming vacant, so we took that table… easy peasy lemony squeezy… Our server, brought water and menus to our table. We ordered drinks, when asked, he advised that the bottomless Mimosas were over at 2 o’clock so we opted to just order single drinks. Ordering was fairly simple, the menu was straightforward, one side was food, the other side was alcohol. We ordered the shrimp salad, it was delivered in a timely fashion it was good to taste & cost effective. The ambience of the exterior portion of the restaurant was just what we needed, fresh, balmy air on a Saturday afternoon. The drinks & the food went down well. My Mexican mule was quite tasty & lit my fire just right. Now… why 3 stars? THE SERVICE!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY!!!! Our server was lackluster, unfriendly, yet not rude, just distant, unwelcoming & distracted; this took away from my dining experience. Maybe something was going on with him, but it was VERY noticeable, as my dining partner & I both commented on it. Too many places in THE NOLA BABY to eat to return here soon. Maybe when I return, he’ll have his head in the game. Private parking lot is a plus. And I found the pricing to be industry standard.

Visited today and had a great experience! I love going to restaurants on the lake, I love being on the lake in general. Today was actually my first time after driving by this restaurant multiple times. While dinning, I only ordered small bites as I was passing time on the way to an event. I ordered the truffle fries + bang bang shrimp, and of course drinks. The shrimp were very tasty and good, some of the best bang bang shrimp I’ve had. The fries were really greasy but still fine— I probably wouldn’t order those again. Tiffany was at the bar on the drinks and she is great. My drinks were made perfectly. The atmosphere of this place is casual. It was dead today when I visited. I can see this restaurant being a nice meet up spot for friends. I’m looking forward to visiting again soon.

We arrived for dinner just after 6pm on a Saturday and were able to be seated without reservations, but I would highly recommend them because it got busy quickly. There is a parking lot with plenty of parking. Loved the atmosphere; the place is modern with a variety of seating options (regular tables, high tops, bar, and lounge) and you can actually hear the person you're trying to have a conversation with. Service was great and all of the staff members were actually wearing masks correctly. The cocktail menu is extensive and all the drinks looked good. We had an appetizer and dinner, and it was all pretty good. Duck empanadas were more like triangular egg rolls but still tasty.

I believe that from my experience people should save their money when it comes to this restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess immediately seated us. It took about 10 minutes to bring us water and a menu. After sitting at our table outside we noticed a car pull up and a couple of customers got out and sat at a table on the patio with us. The waitress immediately went to them to take their order or talk to them and pet their dog. I guess they were regulars. After she was finished greeting them, she finally came to us. Don’t get me wrong the waitress was super nice despite her showing favoritism to her regular customers and lack of coming back to our table in a timely manner. We ordered a mimosa and espresso martini for our drinks which were fine. The food was absolutely not worth the money they are charging. We ordered crab cakes Benedict and crawfish pontchartrain. When the food finally arrived a gentleman with glasses brought it out gave my wife a hot plate IN HER HAND!! And placed mine in front of me. Well needless to say the only thing that was hot was the plate because the food was luke warm when it arrived. I do not send food back for any reason so we just ate. The crab cakes had no taste with a consistency of something that would go through a feeding tube. The crawfish pontchartrain was bland the muffin was hard. The hollandaise sauce had really no flavor. The potatoes were dry with no flavor also. The only reason why we stomached to eat SOME of the food was because we went for lunch and never ate breakfast. So we were really really hungry. Like I said I am not one to send food back or try to take food off my bill so I just bit the bullet paid for my food was disgusted all day about how gross the food was here. I’m not one to really write reviews but I think this is worth it. I haven’t been this disappointed with a...

I'm only giving a 4 star because the Filet Mignon Tacos were taken off the menu. That was the ONE thing I was looking forward to when I came home to NOLA to visit family. As a matter of fact, the menu has changed in other ways as well. My parents noticed things they liked were off the menu, too. With that being said, we still enjoyed our meal. The seared tuna was awesome. I could have just eaten that. However, I did order the filet, and it was cooked exactly how I asked. The only issue was I listened to my husband and asked for medium rare. Which, I prefer rare. I listened to him because not all restaurants can prepare a really good steak. Well, guess what, they can. My steak was a little over cooked to my liking, but again, that is on me. I still ate it all, but maybe 3 bites; to which the dog received the rest when we got home. My husband said the fish was some of the best fish he's ever had. It was the special that evening. If I remember correctly, it was parmesan crusted. He gave me a couple of bites, and for someone who doesn't really like fish... that was delicious. My parents and their two friends very much enjoyed their meals. Thank you for a lovely meal with family and friends.
