Buyer Beware. This is a 2 part review. For the good part. Food and service were very good and I have no complaint when it comes to eating and being served. Definitely recommend when it comes to that.
The beware part is the hidden charge and again this is just for consumers information, I am not telling people not to go because again the food is worth it but when you first walk in the restaurant at the Host stand there is a sign stating they charge 3.5% for using a credit card. There was no host and as soon as we walked in the server sat us, even if I did see it I already paid for Valet Parking and it was a Sunday Night so I wasn't going to leave. In very small print on the bottom of the menu it does state there would be an additional charge but it is very small print at bottom of menu. There is also a 2% resort charge that the city of Miami Beach does add as well so on top of the 7.35% sales tax and the 2% resort fee if you don't carry cash you will also be charged for using your credit card. Just want people to understand that the food is very good but be prepared to pay a total of almost 13% on top of the Subtotal and Gratuity.
I am adding this after the owners response. Yes after speaking to the owner I was explained everything and again my review is so others are not caught off guard. As for the information clearly being available, that is not the case. If you do not stop at the host stand which I did not because as soon as we walked in there was no one there and we were immediately seated. I did state that it was on the menu but it is at the very bottom in small print. Funny how the owner states it was on my receipt when she knows for a fact it was not. I sent her a picture of the receipt showing that there was no mention of the fee and surcharge which she did acknowledge. If you want to make sure every customer knows the policy place a note on the front door so everyone can see it. I stated food was 5 stars and service was 4 stars so not sure why ownership is not happy with my review. I stated food and service was good, this was just a statement so customers know before hand and do not get surprise...
Read moreVery disappointing experience. We made reservations using open table, and when we arrived we were seated in the corner of the restaurant and crunched in a small area off to the side of all the other seating. We were told they were too busy to sit us anywhere else.
The waitress and staff were very short with us, and did not listen to our requests.
We ordered the pork chop dish, it was served raw/under cooked. When bringing this to the attention of our server, she abruptly took the plate off the table, didn’t communicate with us what was happening and then proceeded to have the kitchen take the already cut pork chop and put it back on the grill, as opposed to recooking the meal.
We asked for the meal to be taken off our bill, the staff took the pork chop off the ticket but made us pay for the sides despite us not eating the food. (We paid money for the sides of the food that we sent back)
What was most disappointing was speaking to the owner of the restaurant. When bringing the experience up to him; We were told that we “should have came to him earlier”
The overall experience was one of not feeling like the staff cared about us. They communicated very poorly, and were unapologetic about the entire experience. We spent $165 and were forced to pay the 20% gratuity despite being treated very poorly.
We won’t be back. We left and went right across the street to another restaurant (Bernies Cafe) and had an AMAZING experience.
We highly recommend going to the restaurant across the street and not to Lola’s.
It’s very sad to see some places of business fail to care about their customers, putting rules over principles and lacking the empathy and communication it takes to deliver a top of the...
Read moreFinest Steak Night In Miami! Firstly it's not hard to find or remember. 5555 Collins ave, inside the hotel and the spiral staircase takes you straight to Lola. the red carpet and modern decoration as we walked in made us feel like celebrities and so did the beautiful waitresses and the owner throughout the whole evening who's customer service skills were second to none.
on to the food, wow! we ordered the Angus beef sliders with blue cheese, tomato chutney & caramelized onion that tasted better than most Kobe beef burgers I've tried & the succulent tiger shrimp with a sweet caramelized Indian marinade unlocked flavours I'd never experienced, an excellent way to start our meal that left huge grins on our faces and both eager for the mains. once again the knowledgeable waitress explained and recommended the perfect cuts, sides and sauce combinations which turned out to be the 12oz skirt (medium rare of course) which was the length of the plate and one of the most tender I've ever had with a portion of the most amazing sweet potato fries big enough for 2 and the the chimichurri trio of sauces which were unnecessary as the flavour of the steak was immense however they added a whole other level of depth and complexity to the dish. the 12oz flap steak my friend orders with Yukon gold mash potatoes were equily out of this world.
I wish there was enough space in my stomach for a desert as these also sounded great and the prices of all this outstanding cuisine matched that of an average pub. I couldn't believe my eyes when the bill/check arrived and wouldn't have been surprised if it was double. Needless to say this place is a must visit and you will not be...
