The Urban — Restaurant in Miami

This review will be specifically for the business owner. I have never felt so disgusted to be able to even spend one dime from my own pocket in your place. I was invited to a brunch which a friend of ours reserved at your venue which brought you business since the event she booked was for 60 people or more. I worked in hospitality my whole life which again i remind you that I am joining a brunch on a Sunday which ends at 4 PM.I showed up with my baby which is sleeping in his stroller and the guard at the door tells me we cannot come in because your venue serves alcohol. Also, I cannot come in with any water when the baby will be drinking water from there. The manager came to the door and confirmed that we could not come in because of the same reason which did not make sense at all because again I worked in the restaurant and arranging events for companies my whole life and I am fully aware you cannot sit people at the bar whenever you have a minor which this was not our case. My son was asleep in a stroller and you have a gigantic opened space where you could easily accommodated us with the rest of the group. You are a bad business owner which again, cancelled on the event two hours prior when the reservation was made months ago. You should be ashamed on yourself! Never coming back to this place! And if people are reading this and are planning to book an event here, please make sure to not book any events here or spend your money here.This place is not professional at all and do not want...

The place is nice...the front gate security guard lady was very pleasant and the lady scanning the rsvp and male security at the entrance were all nice. However!! The problem was at the bar. I inquired about drink specials I had ordered during my last visit and was assured that it was still going on until 9pm. I was then given a menu with the "specials" and we proceeded to order two drinks from the menu. Once the total was expressed i inquired as to why it was higher than I expected. The waitress then went and got someone else and she was very short with the answers to the questions i asked. Borderline rude if you ask me... She also told me something quite different than what the first server did. She told me that happy hour ended at 8 pm and those specials were also outdated shortly after the event opened. Incorrect. I placed a drink special order 3 weeks ago. I was charged for patron in the mixed drink versus house bar tequila... Also i had cash in my hand and I was not told that cash was not accepted. After the fact! Needless to say the drinks were NASTY. I used my card and paid the tab and I left NO TIP. I was quite irritated and due to my whole vibe being thrown off I left. Bleh....Brick House it is. I never have to worry about pricing not being upfront or...

*Complaint Regarding Unadvertised Dress Code Policy

• To my knowledge the responsibility for the decision lies with the promoters themselves f this event (Doowop), not the actual event space (The Urban)

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with an experience I had at your establishment on 8/31/2024. Upon arriving at The Urban, Doowop, R&B event, my group and I were denied entry because we were not dressed in all white. This was surprising to us, as there was no mention of a mandatory all-white party in any of your advertising or on your website, tickets, or any social media outlets.

As customers, we make an effort to comply with the dress codes and rules set by establishments, but it is unreasonable to enforce a policy that was never communicated to us. This lack of transparency caused unnecessary inconvenience and disappointment for our group, and many others, as we had made plans to spend our evening at your event.

I kindly request that you review this matter and consider clearly communicating any dress code requirements in the future. This will help avoid such misunderstandings and ensure a more pleasant experience for...
