Do not pay with your debit, credit card because the wait staff will print duplicate copies, increase your receipt total in the form of an unauthorized tip and forge your signature on a duplicate. They will take your card to the corner near the drink machine where you can't see, and copy your card information to distribute to other crooks. Also, please match your receipt against what's posted on your bank statement for consistency. I'm sure I'm not the first person this has happened to. You should do this if you've ever paid with a debit or credit card. It doesn't matter how long ago. This happened to me June 23, 2016 after spending $76.41 to buy lunch for some members of my staff, and the waitress named (A) printed a duplicate copy of my receipt, reduced the total on the duplicate and increased the total by adding an unauthorized tip. This was done after I gave her a $10 tip on a takeout order. The next morning I noticed an unauthorized debit of $901.50 from my account, and then I noticed a variance in the total on the receipt I signed while at Jackson and what was posted on my bank statement. I immediately contacted Jackson and spoke with a female supervisor since the manager wasn't available and she confirmed no additional fees should be charged to my total. A few hours later I went back to Jackson, and met with the supervisor and Butch; then it was determined that my receipt had been duplicated and signed by someone other than myself. Butch suggested I speak with his mom Ayesha Thursday June 30, 2016 to discuss this issue further. I spoke with Ayesha as instructed June 30, 2016 and she assured me she would investigate and call me back. However, I never received a follow-up call from Ayesha, and decided to call her again the following Thursday July 7, 2016. I called the restaurant, and the same person that processed my credit card and apparently signed my name answered the phone. This felt like a slap in the face. I spoke with Ayesha to discuss the issue again and to determine the outcome. All i got was excuses and a lack of taking responsibility for the actions of her employees. Ayesha went on to say that because this is a black owned established that it doesn't mean they engage in credit card fraud. I stated to her that I'm not aware of the ethnic background of the principals, but a fraud did occur at her restaurant and hasn't been taken seriously. As a result of management refusing to take this matter seriously, I will contact their credit card processor, and local authorities to make them aware of what has occurred. They have been given ample opportunity to correct this wrong but dropped the ball.

Read moreI was in Miami and looked up best places for breakfast. I have NO IDEA why this place is on the list. The experience was terrible. It was so bad that I couldn't even wait to leave before reviewing it. I'm actually still sitting at the table and typing! What people should first let you know about this place is that it's like a local diner. The people that come here are clearly regulars and live in the neighborhood. That wasn't the problem at all, it actually made for a somewhat comfortable atmosphere. However, the music was a bit much. If your on a top 10 list you have to be able to cater to all. Everybody doesn't listen to the same type of music so mix it up. Now let's get to the service and the food. First I ordered orange juice --- waited 10 minutes for it and it wasn't fresh squeezed as the menu stated. Fine, it's still OJ right? So I order breakfast. When I go to a restaurant for the first time, I always stick with what a restaurant is known for. I ordered catfish, grits, eggs with cheddar, a biscuit and coffee. When my sister ordered her food, which was a red velvet waffle with chocolate chips, the waiter said and I quote "that's not gonna happen". When she asked why, he said because they just don't do that. But sir, IT'S ON THE MENU! He said the menu is up and coming and they don't have everything that's on it. Whatever.... We get through the next 5 minutes still trying to remain positive while waiting. Waited about 20 minutes to get the food. In the meantime, I still don't have coffee and my sister doesn't have the tea which she ordered. The food comes out separately --- and at this point we don't even have utensils to eat with. The waiter asks is everything ok? No it isn't, we need utensils and I still don't have coffee. His response "I'm brewing a fresh pot". It's now about half hour after I ordered, how long does it take to make coffee????? My sister asked for regular milk for the tea because she doesn't use half and half. The waiter says that it would be an extra $2.50!!! For milk to add to a tea that was ordered???!! The food was very basic.... nothing spectacular about the grits that everyone talked about. The catfish was actually really good (which was the only thing). I finished my breakfast and I never got coffee which is apparently still brewing. And I also never got my biscuit. When I asked about it, guess what the waiter said? "It in the oven now". Seriously?!!!!! So I have finished breakfast and a part of it is still cooking??!!! This review is probably one of the longest I've done because I am so upset about my visit. For those that just want to read the bottom line: This place is terrible!! Don't go... the only reason I even gave one star was so that I could write the review. I would give it NO...
Read moreOrder: French toast, cheese grits and corned beef hash. Fried catfish, eggs and cheese grits. Drink: suicide Although the food was decent, the service was not. Don’t get me wrong, our waitress was really nice. But not attentive at all. She came to take our drink order, brought our drinks and came to take our food order… after she brought out food we never heard from her again until we had to ask several people for her. I ordered French toast but no syrup was brought out. After waiting over 20 minutes for her to come back and trying to get her attention we asked a man cleaning tables if he could get our waitress. Another 10 minutes went by with nothing. We asked the same man if he could just tell he we are ready for the check. At that point, I was just going to take the French toast with me. She still didn’t come out. So we tried to ask another female waitress if she could get our waitress but when we said “excuse me ma’am” she kept walking and said “hold on”. Without even listening to what we wanted to ask her. Finally, our waitress came out to tend to another table and we got her attention. We asked for the check and she realized she didn’t bring me syrup (because my French toast sat on my plate untouched). She apologized and said she’s “sorry because everyone came in at the same time” (meaning it got busy all of a sudden). I understand getting busy but not once did she check on us after we got our order; she never even refilled our drinks ONCE .
Also, it’s freezing cold in the restaurant so it’s like torture sitting and waiting for someone to bring your check when you’ve been ready to pay and leave.
The food was good. But they are definitely lacking in customer service. We came from Orlando and wanted to eat black owned. It’s hard to support Black owned when you get...
