This restaurant is extremely small, and the low ceilings make it extremely noisy. I have been to the past 2 restautants at this location and they all suffered from the noise problem. Do not expect a quiet dinner unless the place is empty. Overall, I have to describe the dining experience as "odd." The drink specials were ok, but the selection of glassware for my drink just seemed wrong. My bourbon cocktail was served in a small brandy-snifter type glass. I was having a bourbon drink, not brandy. Also, it had more crushed ice than liquid, so I had to stir it constantly with the little straw. Less ice or more liquid please, and a different glass. Little things make a difference. If they had added a sprig of mint they basically would have had a mint julep. We sent the calamari appetizer back. It had the frozen then thawed taste about it, and it was super tough. The bacon scallop appetizer suffered from the same presentation problem as the bourbon cocktail - it was strange. There were 3 pieces I think, and one was sitting on top of a giant tomato. Why? It just seemed odd. The giant tomato was out of scale with the scallops. To be fair, the taste was good and the tomato itself was fresh. As to entrees, I had the fettuccine with mushrooms and steak tips. It was good, not great. I would give it a B. For dessert, we had the cheesecake with berries. It was just OK. I expected NY style cheesecake with berries, but this was more cake-like than cheesecake-like. I was told all desserts are made fresh in-house. Here is something that I did find terrific about this place - whoever wrote the menu made every dish sound delicious! I had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded good. How many times have you read a menu where nothing sounded good? On this menu, it all sounded good. I am considering trying this place again. Like I said, everything on the menu sounded great. Maybe it was an off night. For the price, I...
Read moreI have no idea how this restaurant received so many good reviews. The food was simply mediocre at exceptional food prices. We literally had to spit out the raw oysters and had stomach issues the next morning. The pork chop was overcooked and therefore dry, probably because they butterflied it (like a diner would do). I specifically told the waiter that I did not want the pork chop to be well done and dry, and he assured me it would be slightly pink but it was not. When he asked how the pork chop was, after my response, he didn't even stop at the table to discuss it, he just sprinted by and said "oh, sorry". When we told him about the oysters smelling and tasting bad, he offered us dessert free of charge, but we just wanted to inform the kitchen so they wouldn't serve them to anyone else. The waiter's response was that the other table loved them. Seafood should not smell bad and certainly not taste bad. In the end, the waiter took the price of the oysters off the bill and comped our drinks which was the decent thing to do, but the whole ordeal was very uncomfortable. He also did not return with our take home leftovers, which was ok, because as I've said, the food was mediocre. But the place was cozy with a nice outdoor dining area, albeit noisy, so I would just stick with drinks and maybe...
Read moreStopped in for an early date night dinner with my wife, had never been before walk in 2 too, about 5PM. A few other tables filled, booths all reserved. Very friendly staff, quaint and tight unless you can get a booth. Service was good, you can tell they have a long service staff as all the workers seem like good friends as well. Did not have any special cocktails or sample any of the specials, ordered from the regular menu. Drinks we did order were free poured and amply satisfying. Appetizers consisted of an order of roasted brussel sprouts with bacon and balsamic glaze and a risotto croquette with a truffle cream sauce; both excellent. The sprouts is a fairly large order so be prepared. Entrees were the Braised Short Rib with mashed, roasted carrots, and a phenomenal hot cherry pepper espagnole sauce that was to die for! Wife had the stuffed chicken with prosciutto, spinach, and burrata over a Parmesan risotto. A very nice dish albeit a bit “wedding fare like”, but overall flavorful. Dessert was a peach bourbon crumble that was quite enjoyable. Overall a great experience, prices were reasonable and will return but make a reservation for a booth next time. Thanks for a...
