Middlebury Bagel — Restaurant in Middlebury

Delicious, but extremely unorganized. Also you can pay with your card now, but there is a 4% fee to do so. As a newcomer, trying to navigate what I'm supposed to do was very frustrating and I almost just walked out.

Here's what you do: Go to the farthest counter where people look like they're too busy to be taking orders. A person will take your order. Walk over to the counter in the front. Tell that person what your order is again. Hopefully you have good memory. Pay for your food. Grab your coffee if you bought one and sit down in the back if there is a table. (You made sure there was an open table, right?) Wait. Your food will be out in 10-15 minutes.

Why isn't there a system in place? Shouldn't there be a ticket that's handed to the person at the register? I don't know. Signs, explanations, literally anything would be welcome.

Was it worth the insanity? Yes. The bacon was crisp, the home fries were crunchy (yet under seasoned), and the waffle was chewy and a bit eggy; personally that's how I like them. My partner would not stop raving about the donut they got. It was a really good donut. The only thing that disappointed was the pancake. I got blueberry and it was mealy, dense, and unflavorful. The Parmesan bagel Italian sandwich was fantastic. What I didn’t appreciate is having a woman yell at me after I use the restroom (which was pitch black for some reason?) and say „Make sure you order something!“ as im walking out the door. Of course it was super crowded and it took too long to register what she said or else I would have said something. I really, really hope I just misheard her. Unfortunately, I’ve only been able to make it over here once, but my God is this place good. The bagel may have been the best bagel I’ve ever had in my life. I’m from the Midwest and our bagels are usually more chewy than anything else. The bagels here had a crunch to them, which I absolutely loved, and the cream cheese spread was soo good.
