Italian Peoples Bakery, Inc. — Restaurant in Middletown Township

Bought a cheese log that was moldy (ate right away in the car and didn't see the mold on the other half til I got home). My husband's cherry turnover type pastry also had a couple spots of green mold on it. The pastries look huge but the second you take a bite it's like you're chewing on air. Disappointing. The cookies are gross and hard. Just bought pizza dough yesterday cause I need it to make my daughter's pizza rolls and couldn't find my usual. (yes I know i can make it myself but with toddlers that's impossible when you're the only one watching them). Hopefully i don't go to use it today and find mold on it or find out it's old. I see other people had problems with mold, this place should definitely be examined by a health inspector and maybe even shut down until they can get their act together. the cannolis are good just tried them yesterday. Hopefully there wasn't hidden mold on the inside of the cannoli pastry cause it seems like something they would do on purpose just to not "waste" their own time and...

Bread is always great every time we come… only issue is the service. The staff is made up of several teenage girls who don’t even acknowledge the customer when they come in. Last time we visited, there were 3 of them having a gossip session behind the counter. Two of them went to the back while the third came up and said “Are you guys ready yet?” We had only been looking for about 30 seconds, so it felt like we were being rushed so that they could get back to their conversation. We then asked the employee if the loaf we were pointing to was white or wheat bread, as it wasn’t labeled. She responded “Italian?” and made us feel like we were stupid for asking a common question. As she was checking us out, she gave us back our change and immediately walked back to her friends. No “Have a nice day!” or anything of the sort. I went to woodbourne road bakery today around 10:30 am there was a long line but I LOVE there 1/2 torpe rolls. I buy them alot so I got 2 dozen today and I just took them out of the paper bag to put in plastic bag and some rolls felt wet. They were not fresh either so I called to let them know and the girl I spoke with said it's the bakers we have nothing to do with that because they should be fresh. Since its Christmas I just said oh well then. Any other time I would have asked for an exchange but I just let it go. Next time I'll look in the bag at them before I leave the store. They had them in the back room and not in the show case either so I couldn't see them. Give it to GOD. The older I get the more I TRY to be the BETTER PERSON in different situations.
