First off to the owner I apologize for not giving you a 5 star rating but I will never give someplace 5 unless there is something really special about them or the visit and since you have a 3.9 overall, mine will not detract from that level. I have been to places that have had a lot of 5 stars but some I felt only deserve a 2 or less. When places see 5 many think they have reached their peak and can just go with what they are doing and see no room for improvement. One of the reasons I did give you 4 was because after reading other reviews I saw that you do care enough to respond to what folks are saying and at least portray a real concern to make improvements to get that better rating. That concern was also my deciding factor in where to go as I had two other options I was considering. Here now is where I will get into my concerns and compliments with what I saw while there. Upon walking in a woman had walked in before me and headed directly to a table leaving me unsure as to whether we were to seat ourselves as is the practice in many diners when not busy or did I need to wait. When I questioned the hostess she had thought I was with the woman who had walked in before me and so was herself a little confused. Not a big deal and I guess I should blame the other customer for not waiting to be seated but just taking liberties that she did not have. After being seated I was asked about drinks to which I replied just a cup of coffee and ice water which were brought out quickly while I continued to scan the menu. One of the things now about the menu was that as I had walked in I saw a list of the specials of the day in the foyer but had I seen something I might have liked there was no specials menu in with the regular menu as I find in most diners I go to in South Jersey near me. I was also disappointed that there were no mini meals, a smaller size of an entrée priced under $10.00 that are at most diners in South Jersey. Since I had already looked at the menu online while trying to choose between a few places where to go for my meal while in the area for the day I already had a good idea that what I was gong to order was a burger and so I did. I did however forget to ask if the sides with the burger could have been changed and was not asked if I would like to have something different so I was stuck with the coleslaw and fries. I may have ordered the fries anyway but I have only on rare occasions had coleslaw that was worth eating. This time was no exception as it was drenched with mayonnaise and the cabbage was not at all crispy but oh well the burger made up for it as it was almost as good as I had hoped but well within the range of better than just acceptable. There were a couple other things that concerned me that had nothing to do with the food or the service but not wanting to put up any red flags to anyone I will not mention them here. If I lived in the area I would probably come back every so often however since I live 2 hours away and have only been in the area 3 times I probably won’t but will try one of the other eateries that...
Read moreFirst time me and my friends had tipped lower than 20%, we had gotten drinks and my first had ordered orange juice while I got apple, mine was okay and theirs was extremely watered down, my friends then ask for a coffee and cranberry juice, the coffee had come out with a lipstick stain on the mug. She had tried saying it was the dishwasher but even then how do you not notice the lipstick? Then our food comes out, at this point me and my friend had been very nice about the stuff we asked to send back, she was even blaming herself for getting it even though none of it should have even come out like that, she ordered the bagel with salmon, I got pancakes, and my other friend got some meal with fries and eggs and sausage and toast, the salmon that came out looked like play-doe and you had to build the bagel yourself for $20, the pancakes had zero flavoring even with the chocolate chips, and the other meal my friend got had again no flavoring even with and they still forgot their toast. My friend then tells the waitress that the food wasn’t good or okay to eat but again being nice said “it’s my fault” and the waitress replies “yea I know” …? What makes anyone think that’s okay to say to anyone???! So my friend orders the same meal my other friend had just to atleast eat something and the bacon was barely cooked and cooked differently than my friends, she didn’t even ask how she wanted her eggs, and the whole time it felt hostile while she was there. There was also this little girl who didn’t look older than 10 working, sitting guests, running drinks, asking if we needed anything, honestly the sweetest one there. This place is absolutely terrible, from the food, to the service, to what they have children doing, soon they will change their name to “Sunny side diner” but it would change how we felt in there, we still tipped $5 on $66 but never will we come back aswell as let everyone we come in contact with, know about how terrible this...
Read moreA local diner where you can get a good meal served by a friendly waitress at a reasonable price they have a children's menu booster seats or a high chair, free parking, there is a number of handicapped spots and a ramp or stairs to enter. So come check them out next time you want to get something to eat I think that you will enjoy it and probably have leftovers for another meal since their portions are large Bueno appetito.
The diner has changed to The Sunnyside Diner with new management and I have to say that we were very disappointed. We arrived the waitress was by herself so she was seating, taking drink and food orders as well as serving luckily it was not crowded. I ordered cheese raviolis and I had a choice of soup or salad I got the chicken orzo soup which was cold the ravioli was under cooked and the sauce tasted like it was from a can. My mom ordered a corn beef sandwich and it was all fat, a strawberry dish of ice cream she enjoyed and a blueberry muffin to go and it came to $60.00 that was including the tip There was a woman sitting near by who had ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and when she received it there was a 1/2 a piece of cheese on it she was not happy to be charged $10.95 for 2 pieces of bread and 1/2 of piece of cheese. Unfortunately all of us were not impressed with the new Sunnyside Diner which is too bad cause we always had a good meal when it was the King Arms II or the Marina Diner I'll drive to the Yellow Rose or the Middletown diner...
