Illiano's Ristorante and Pizzeria — Restaurant in Middletown

I am from Middletown, born and raised my family always supports this establishment. I walked in to get a pizza from somewhere Ive been eating at since I was a child, I can’t believe the attitude and unprofessionalism I experienced today from an employee named Ana; that I guarantee she hasn’t been there for as long as I been a customer there. As I am waiting, she takes others orders before me, and she said she didn’t take my order because I was on the phone, but the employees are all on their phones discussing their personal business at a professional establishment at the front counter. Regardless of me being on my phone or not; I don’t understand her intentionally ignoring me while you’re clocked into work. I am sitting there waiting for her to attempt to say “let me know when you’re ready and I can take your order.” Or anything really. My family is Sicilian, this somewhere we love to go, we’ve going for over 20 years. The employee was Ana, she was very sarcastic instead of attempting to problem solve, she became very inappropriate, and extremely rude, she began to mock and smile like the situation is funny— and it’s not funny. When I asked for a manager she began to make jokes and say “do you want my social security number too?”

Ordered a chicken Francaise dinner off of door dash and sent delivery driver a request for them to put in a Small cup of Parmesan cheese to go with my pasta. The driver messaged me back and said Iliano’s‘s refused to supply the Parmesan and that if I wanted it I would have to pay extra! So I called and spoke to some kid working at the S. Main St. location where I ordered from and he was very hostile with me, basically reiterating what the driver for door dash told me. I said to him how is it any different if I came into the restaurant, sat at the table, and used one of the Parmesan shakers at the table. obviously common sense is not this person‘s strong suit. The kicker here is that this kid informed me that this is a policy per the owner and when I asked to speak with the owner who conveniently was not there. I called the Washington Street location to ask them if this is their policy and the girl who answered, a very nice girl mind you, was dumbfounded As to how they went about this and stated that the Washington st location never charges extra for condiments. All in all, this was a very horrible experience with Iliano’s’s on S. Main St. and I don’t believe I will ever patronize them in the future. Food: Highlights were the mozzarella sticks and dipping sauce which were very solid, everything else was generally awful compared to what I would deem good Italian food. Chicken parm burnt and hard. Side pasta bland and basic. Garlic bread over cooked and somewhat bitter. Waitress did not question why my mother and I left almost all the food on the table. Seemed like that wasn’t an irregular occurrence for her. People sitting next to me pointed out that I left my food behind and giggled mutually when I implied I was doing it on purpose.

Service: Waitress was friendly and did her job well, but considering their default tip was around 23 percent you would figure they would pack the leftovers for you which they don’t (considered it for the regular bread at first because we didn’t touch it). They also don’t seat you. So I guess I just don’t understand why they feel an expected tip of over 20 percent is worthwhile there.

Atmosphere: Warm and inviting despite the seating area and table being small with people very packed together. Menu presentation looked nice.

Overall no malice believe it or not based on some of the above statements but I really wouldn’t come here twice unless I just wanted an appetizer. Even then there’s better out...
