Parking was easy, this place is in a strip mall, so plenty of parking.
This was my first solo mission, so I didn't get to try as much as I normally do. I was still able to get a good feel for how the food is at this little gem.
It wasn't busy when I walked in, just one table with 2 customers. They had two more tables that showed up while I was there. I was greeted immediately, and had my choice of seat in the place. The service was top notch, anything I asked for, any questions, were taken care of quickly. I got a real family friendly vibe in this place. They even had a kids menu with hot dogs & hamburgers. It also stood out that this place was exceptionally clean.
I ordered the unsweet iced tea. It was cool, refreshing, and didn't have any weird taste to it like some places have. I didn't feel like having a beer, but they had a good bottle selection. They were light on the tequila selections, but they did have Don Julio & Jose. I'm cool with both of those guys. I didn't see any high end tequilas, nor did I ask the price. I shoulda asked!!! Your boy was a little under the weather today. They didn't have a bar that you sit at, more like a service bar, but you could clearly see what they had.
Guacamole was outstanding!!! Chunky, bright green, and all of the ingredients were to my taste. I didn't have to add anything to it. This has been my favorite of the 3 I have reviewed so far. The chips were light and flawless. The salsa was a different color than what I'm accustomed to, so I was a little weary at first. It was a pleasant surprise, not spicy, but had a nice cilantro kick to it. I thoroughly enjoyed this salsa.
I ordered the flautas. Three fried flour tortilla rolled, stuffed with chicken topped with sour cream, lettuce and cheese. They were fried to perfection, chicken was moist, and OMFG they were huuuuge!!!! I'm not a big fan of the lettuce and tomato on top, but I worked right around that. The green (tomatillo) sauce was delicious, not spicy. The red (chipotle) sauce was not my jam, but it was pretty dang spicy if you're into the whole chipotle thing.
I ordered chorizo tacos to go, with a side of the green sauce. These tacos were sooooo delicious, even reheated 9 hours later. I can't say enough how good they were. Those tortillas are slamma jamma!
Authentic, awesome, and they do take cards. Found...
Read moreIts not often that Cinco de mayo falls on taco Tuesday so naturally I was craving a good Mexican spot but low and behold the life that is now covid 19 quarantine no dinning in anywhere. Anyway looked up Mexican near me and saw this place had good reviews and the menu looked good and they were available for take out. I figured it would be busy because of Cinco, but man they were slammed and it was take out only. They let me know when I placed my order the wait was going to be long, but I figured and ordered anyway, I mean quarantine life right? What else do I have to do but wait? we went back and picked up the food and it was ready in time. The Togo margaritas we ordered were bigger than I thought so already off to a good start. And when we got the food home the order was exactly spot on including the special requests which I was honestly surprised about since they were just slammed with orders you could tell they were working hard. But everything was delicious and we will definitely be ordering take out from here again and hopefully one day get to go and sit down in...
Read moreBest Mexican in Middletown. Friendly service, great food and prices. in Igrew up on Mexican home cooking in San Diego. This is the closest to authentic I know of in Delaware today other than a few taqerias. It's become the goto restaurant for the family.
The majority of the clientele when I've been here have been native Spanish speakers. Chips and salsa are required for sit down Mexican here, so they serve it. Surprise, no hot sauce on the table.
You can get spicy enough to make me feel the heat with good flavor. The tamales are like I remeber growing up as are the marinated beef and pork.
Good selection of Mexican beer.
My previous two favorite Mexican restaurants are gone (owners moved back to Mexico) or gone south. I'm hoping that they've got just enough gringo fair to keep enough locals...
