Peter's Fish Market — Restaurant in Midland Park

As a new customer I placed a modest custom order for a difficult to source fish just to see how I liked the place. The girl who took my order was delightful and explained the process. I got a call when my order was ready right on schedule from another very pleasant lady. I was offered choices on fish preparation, but I opted out for the whole fish so that I can judge the quality of the product for myself. When I showed up I was greeted warmly by the staff. I was also pleasantly surprised that the fish I got was sourced from the premium European region, and loved getting to know more about the business from Vince who works in the store.

The total I paid for this sample order was under $20, but short of rolling out the red carpet I was given a royal treatment. If this business can handle a modest custom order like this, they have a customer for life here! Most importantly, anything wholesale that I never had direct access to before is now mine for the taking at very reasonable prices.

I’ve been ordering from Pete’s for many years and while the fish is fresh every Christmas Eve for the past 3 or 4 years there are items missing from my order which I don’t discover till I’m already home. Specifically they are always out of fresh eel which is a staple for the feast of the 7 fishes. They also don’t tell you anything is missing and they don’t answer their phones so you can’t even call to ask ahead of time so you can arrange to pick it up elsewhere. That is literally the only reason I order from them. I’m very disappointed yet again as I picked up my order and it’s missing again, I will no longer patronize or recommend this...

I am so very lucky I live in Wyckoff just around the corner from Pete’s. To start , I have 2 young boys and if they are not busy; one of the guys , usually Vinnie comes out to let my boys let the lobsters !

For the fish , it’s a very special place, when this place says fresh they mean it ! If you need a recommendation, their knowledgeable guys can give advice and how to prepare it . Be sure to check out their prepared food- the grilled salmon is a must and their mixed salads are always a win. Local gem and a staple for all family’s who like seafood.
