Excellent variety, still trying different things.
At last, a place with good sushi and cooked "fake sushi" rolls as well as a good variety of Oriental dishes.
Portions are fairly good, and fairly quick turnaround compared to a more distant and fancy sit-down restaurant. They have a much higher caliber of food than the usual burger and fries fare that has been on the South Side, east of Rankin Hwy for decades, although now there are several places that are relatively quick. This one however is right in the sweet spot of price, quality, and accessibility.
They also offer take-out, and their packaging is a little stronger and more durable than what I have seen at other places. It is easier to keep the trays flat so they don't tip and possibly come unlatched or spill, and the stronger thicker material has better thermal transfer properties so hot food stays hot for much longer, and cold food stays cold much longer.
I have only gotten stuff "to go" about 3 times so far, and it survived 30 miles in the truck before reaching the point of consumption still hot and everything in its place.
Clearly someone put some engineering thought into the design of their trays and covers, maybe someone who has experienced the frustration of most of a meal having flowed out into a mixture in the bottom of a sack when finally getting back home or to the office or a field location, and took into account how to design around many of the common carryout food container failure modes.
So I'll probably do more carry-out in the future.
As any commercial realtor will say, "location, location, location". And for those of us burned out with the daily Russian Roulette attempting to cross Big Spring Street / Rankin Highway on the south side, it is a welcome relief to see eateries springing up where one does NOT have to cross this street to access from the east side, with safe ingress and egress streets out of the high speed high...
Read moreThe employees cannot be bothered to even smile at you when greeting you or taking your order. Not sure what the pay or management situation is, but judging by the hiring sign outside, guess not ideal.
The food was just okay, nothing special. The menu left a lot to be desired, could not even get gyoza with pork. The sushi portions are tiny and the texture and taste was very off. Not ripe avocado and or not good fish.
If you’re going to order food here, I recommend not dining in. I spent more time shooing flies away from my food than actually being able to enjoy eating, not that there was much to really enjoy.
Overall, felt like a waste of a visit. Won’t be coming back here again. Going to literally any other more expensive hibachi for dining in would be 100% worth the extra cash.
Got the edamame, crab rangoon, teriyaki steak & chicken, egg drop soup, and a philadelphia roll. Mid at best. Don’t understand what the hype is around the food here, but could just be an off day. Dined during a slow...
Read moreTried this place out with a friend today and was not disappointed. From the name of the restaurant I thought it would be like a take out Place, it turns our to be a pretty nice restaurant with plenty tables to dine in. They serve their food in a take out container so you're good to go anytime. Food is fairly priced with an open kitchen so you could see how they cook.
I ordered the chicken fried rice, dragon roll, and gyoza. Gyoza was ok, just like one of those frozen gyoza package you can buy from store. Dragon roll was good. Salmon on top with shrimp tempura in the middle. They are very generous with the shrimp and it tasted amazing. Fried rice had bits and pieces of onion. Looked like all the chicken was on top and rice at bottom. Either way It tasted good.
The only thing that bothered me was the kid that ran around the Dining area and kitchen. Most definitely the owners son but keep him away from the...
