Went here thinking it was going to be good and it’s was really not great we ordered chips and queso and the queso was sub par, but before that we sat there for like 10 min before anybody came up to us and we were already finished with chips and never had drinks and then the waitress came and got our order we already knew what we wanted due to us sitting there so long and we ordered fajitas combo with steak and shrimp and chicken and such a small portion and only came with 3 tortillas and this wouldn’t even be enough for one person especially a man, then our food came out and we still didn’t have our drinks or queso for the chips we already finished, and the fajita meat and everything was not great shrimp looked like what buy from the store in a frozen bag and then no shredded cheese for the fajitas at all and still paid $53.00 for all that and yes i still tipped very generously because I am not that person and never said anything to anybody. Management did noticed we got our food first before anything else such as drinks and came and apologized which was nice but again never complained. But a lot of money was spent for sub par food and service. But the Mexican place at the old Jimmys is fantastic! We went there last week to try that and...
Read moreThis restaurant deserves better reviews than have been posted on Yelp. Maybe competitors made those posts? We almost didn't try it due to the 2.5 star rating we saw the week of July 7, 2025, but two 5-star reviews in the past week convinced us to give it a go.
The decor is fantastic, much nicer than the previous restaurant that occupied this space (which we also enjoyed). Thoughtful attention to decorative details, not annoying at all.
We were seated quickly, and our server Mitchell took great care of us, answering our questions, guiding us on choices based on our input, and quickly delivering our drinks.
From other reviews we knew to ask for the "hotter" salsas, which were brought complimentarily. Both were fantastic in their own ways, and inspired us to ask Mitchell to "go ahead and bring us the guacamole" we'd previously declined. That and a margarita helped control the heat nicely, making for an enjoyable experience.
We tried the Chile Colorado with white corn tortillas, and the fried shrimp tacos. Both meals were outstanding.
Before our check was delivered, a manager stopped by to visit and ensure our visit was expected. Nice...
Read moreTequila Cocina has setup shop where Campuzano's occupied on Midlothian's main street. The reconfigured layout works well and the fresh decor and layout pay homage to the building's former life as a bank. The menu is a bit shorter than Campuzano's was, but is just as flavorful. I had the ranchera enchiladas, and enjoyed every bite. There was ample cheese on the refried beans, and the Mexican rice was the prefect consistency and flavor. My only complaint was the ranchera sauce was a bit thin, but was otherwise flavorful. My wife had the Chile relleno de mariscos, and enjoyed every bite. There shrimp in the chile paired well with the poblano pepper. Our friends had the chicken quesadilla and mixed green salad. No take out bag for any of us!
Our service was outstanding. A mistake from the kitchen was quickly remedied, and our beverage glasses remained full.
Definitely will go back and try something...
