We were nervous about going here with all the varied reviews, but wanted to try the on resort restaurant for the experience- and we are glad we did!
The service was great, the food was amazing, the portion sizes were large, and the prices weren’t really that much higher than others in the area and don’t require any drive time, so we were happy with our experience.
We got the charcuterie (cheese plate) appetizer that others had talked about despite poor reviews. We were very happy! It was filled with a variety of (they said local) fresh cheeses and artisan meats and pickled vegetables and figs just as advertised. It reminded us of other similar plates we had tried from other restaurants.
The rolls were baked in a small pot and tasted very good! The pot is a little gimmick but we thought it was cute.
I got the fried chicken which was delicious! (The breast was a little dry but the rest was mouthwatering and breast I always hard) There were mixed vegetables with broccoli, cauliflower, squash, and carrots- very well seasoned. The mashed potatoes and gravy were some of the best I have had in a long while. Chunks of potato and great texture and flavor.
My mother in law got pot roast and we shared with each other so we got to try more from the menu. There was plenty to share! The pot roast was tender and had a two large portions served with mashed potatoes and gravy and some peas and carrots.
We also tried the doughnut holes for dessert. They were rolled in sugar and drizzled with caramel and topped with whipped cream. They were yummy if you like doughnut holes (not my favorite but my dinner mates gobbled them up).
We wouldn’t hesitate to...
Read moreI recently ate at Simon’s Restaurant at the Homestead Crater resort area in Midway, and it was a great experience. The setting is warm and welcoming, with rustic mountain charm and big windows that let you look out over the property. It’s a comfortable place whether you’re on a getaway or just dropping in for dinner.
The staff were kind and attentive, and the service felt personal without being overbearing. Even when the restaurant was busy, we didn’t feel ignored. They made us feel relaxed and taken care of from the moment we walked in.
The food was excellent. I had a burger that was seasoned really well and cooked just right. The portion size was generous, and everything tasted fresh. My partner ordered one of the specials, and we were both happy with our meals. Prices are in the mid-range, but for the quality and location, it felt completely worth it.
We sat near the fireplace, but there’s also a nice patio area that looked like it would be perfect in warmer weather. The overall vibe is casual but elegant, and it’s a place you could bring anyone to for a good meal.
If you’re staying at the Homestead or just visiting the crater, Simon’s is a solid dining option. Great service, good food, and a relaxing atmosphere. I would absolutely eat...
Read moreThe food here is actually pretty good, but unfortunately the restaurant service is pathetic and completely removes any hope of a pleasant dining experience. We are here with multiple couples and my wife waited 1.5 hours for her food. I asked our server 3 times where her food was and was told “it’s almost ready” over and over. The other couples actually finished their desert before my wife got her meal. Our server disappeared for a while so I actually got up and went to the hotel desk and got us some water. No apologies, snub attitude. ZERO customer service. I have no idea how this place even stays in business. I understand That sometimes restaurants just get too busy. But I really didn’t see very many other people here. Every other restaurant I’ve been to, when they mess up and forget to bring a meal out, they at least offer to comp the meal as a courtesy. Not here. I do not blame our server for our horrible dining experience. I blame whoever manages this place and failed miserably to train their team on how to give their customers a pleasant...
