Main Street Grill & Tavern: Where the Food is Divine, the Drinks Flow Freely, and the Staff Deserves Their Own Sitcom
Right in the heart of Milford, Michigan, lives a gem of a joint that doesnât just serve food â it serves unforgettable experiences seasoned with sass, heart, and a side of grilled excellence. Welcome to Main Street Grill and Tavern, where the drinks are strong, the burgers are bold, and the personalities behind the bar could headline their own Netflix series.
Richard, the owner, is the tavernâs fearless (and frequently grumpy) leader. Heâs got the charm of a vintage pick-up truck: a little rough around the edges, but absolutely reliable and full of stories that may or may not be true. Heâs like that lovable curmudgeon who grumbles about everything⊠while secretly making sure everyoneâs having the best night of their week.
Diane (The Real Boss): The queen bee of the Grill â and not just because she said so (though she did). Sheâs the reason the place looks so beautiful. Fresh flowers on every table? Thatâs Diane. Seasonal dĂ©cor more organized than your life? Also Diane commands respect with a raised eyebrow and has taste that could land her a home dĂ©cor show. Richard may have established the tavern, but Diane gave it soul and style â and the flowers donât wilt because they know better.
Then thereâs Ryan, his son and co-captain of this flavorful ship. Ryanâs the glue that holds the place together â always one deep breath away from calling it a day, but still grinning through it because deep down, he loves it. Think of him as the tavernâs unofficial HR department, tech support, bartender-in-training, and hostage negotiator (when Richard starts ranting about âhow things used to beâ).
Behind the bar, meet the team that turns every visit into a memory: Dom is the quick-witted bar wizard whoâll crack a joke while shaking up your favorite drink. Domâs got that uncanny ability to remember what you had three Thursdays ago â and who you were flirting with at the time. Heâs part bartender, part private investigator.
Churchie is the tavernâs heart and soul with a heavy pour. Whether you need advice, a laugh, or a top-shelf tequila, Churchie delivers â usually all at once. Theyâre like the cool older sibling you wish you had growing up, but with way better liquor.
Chelle is pure firecracker energy in bartender form. She runs the bar like a rock concert: loud, high-energy, and somehow flawlessly organized in the chaos. Sheâll give you a killer cocktail and a compliment youâll remember forever â followed by a roast that humbles you just enough.
And then thereâs Kennedy â the newest ray of sunshine behind the bar. Sheâs got that âquirky coolâ vibe: one minute recommending a lavender gin fizz with a gummy bear garnish, the next telling you about the time she accidentally joined a bocce league. Sheâs sweet, a little scattered in the most endearing way, and guaranteed to brighten your night whether sheâs crafting the perfect drink or just charming the regulars with stories that may or may not end with ââŠand thatâs why Iâm banned from Target.â
Itâs like your favorite flannel shirt: warm, comfortable, slightly worn in, and full of great memories. Whether youâre a local, a regular, or a lost traveler lured in by the scent of sizzling steaks, youâll feel at home. The jukebox might skip a beat, and Richard might roll his eyes at your drink order, but it all adds to the magic. Every table has fresh flowers (yes, every. single. one.) thanks to Diane, and the place somehow always feels like itâs decorated for a celebration â even if the only thing being celebrated is a Wednesday.
The kitchen here doesnât miss. Burgers youâd gladly write a diary entry about. Wings that slap harder than your aunt at a family reunion. Fries so good they deserve their own food group. And even the salads are greatâ probably because Diane personally threatened the vegetables to behave. And donât sleep on the house specials â the vegetarians have fallen in love with...
Read moreSuper great atmosphere, nice servers, beautiful patio. Menu is pretty limited for both food and drink, it took about an hour and a half to get our food (they were very busy), but when we did it was delicious. I had the crispy chicken sandwich, the taste itself was amazing; but unfortunately the chicken itself, even while breaded, wasnât crunchy at all. The tater tots however were! They made an accommodation to make one of our guests a grilled chicken sandwich instead (not on the menu) and it was tasty. Onion rings were crunchy as well, great flavors there. Side salad looked plentiful, great croutons and ranch dressing. Price wise I would say itâs a $$.$/$$$$ borderline $$$/$$$$. Our 16oz drafts were all $7.00 a piece, our sandwiches were all $16 a piece without sides or usual inclusions (cheese) and $2.00 extra EACH for bacon and avocado. Sides were separate. Limited selection of appetizers too. The live band tonight was AMAZING but was at times hard to hear over the music. There are large umbrellas for each table, and heated lamps if it gets cold, so that was nice. Only 2 single toilet individual unisex bathrooms and theyâre in the narrow hallway directly behind their pickup window and there was a bussing cart right next to that; I would say itâs not really easily handicapped accessible, it was hard for anyone. No place to really stand in line without blocking workers, thereâs also a large shelving unit in that same hall with back stock. The bathrooms themselves were clean, with cute touches of decorations, well stocked, but warm/stuffy. Normally I would say this is 3 âïž but there was enough to support that 4th star collectively. I would say consider offering specials or rotating new menu items seasonally to offer a bit of variety, especially for appetizers since the wait is generally pretty long. Drink prices for drafts even for speciality is pretty high for the size; perhaps Re-visit. The ticket time DEFINITIVELY needs work. And you HAVE to improve access to the bathroom for everyone but especially those that are handicapped or may use a wheelchair; they have to be able to get through and as of now the far bathroom is inaccessible to them. Great staff, beautiful atmosphere, our food was really really good and hot despite the wait. We...
Read moreAs usual us here that all join in to review various establishments once was keen to this place however so much has gone downhill since our last positive review. After another one of our review team, went here twice since our 5 star review from last winter, so much has changed that we are back to definitely update our experience. First off the bartender Olivia I believe her name was, was a very nice girl however she had to look up drinks from a book and seemed very inexperienced behind the bar. Was very slow, lacked consistency and also seemed to be distracted a lot. The second time in recently there was a kid named Bennett who was very attentive and kind, however also seemed very inexperienced. What happened to the good bartender with the tattoos? So beyond the current staff issues, the food was mediocre and typical bar food to a certain degree. The hamburger was over cooked a tad but edible however the plus side is it wasn't a frozen box patty they were definitely hand pattied and a good portion. The calamari was in fact decent but for the price you can get at Highland House or Stillwater, they at least have a nice lemon sauce with roasted pepper toppings for the same price. The salads are perfect sozed maybe too big! But was great! Atmosphere was nice and cozy but the bathrooms are shared men and women and men pee on the seats or floor and women have to deal with it I guess. I get the political side to this but no woman should have to wipe a strangers pee from a toliet in a public place. So thats where we differ on the political side of things. The owner I'm assuming was overheard being rude to one of his other staff members and he didn't seem to care to help clean tables up or help his busy staff could be why they lacked at doung any type of good job. He seemed to be narcissistic and non-caring of what was going on. The cook looked doped up and the kitchen dirty. I say give it a try to see for yourself but don't expect a 5 star...
