Mi Jalisco — Restaurant in Milford

REVIEW UPDATE: Previously, Mi Jalisco was good most nights, but sometimes inconsistent. We just had our final Mi Jalisco meal tonight. They've gone WAAAAY downhill. Service was incredibly slow and not too friendly, and this was in a half empty restaurant when this place was previously packed. The food was worse than the service. Every variety of beef taco our table had was HORRIBLE. The chicken was downright inedible. Complimentary nachos tasted bad, like the cooking oil was turning or had turned rancid. They've definitely cut back on quality, while simultaneously raising the prices. The restaurant was too cold as they seem to be pinching pennies on heating expenses also. Looking at other "Recent" reviews confirms that ownership here no longer takes pride in their product or service. The menus have a note stuck to them stating something along the lines of: "Sorry, our prices have gone up due to inflation/pandemic/whatever". I have no issue with a restaurant increasing prices, it's expected. Increasing prices while simultaneously cutting quality is a recipe for failure though. When price changes are permanent, a printed note doesn't cut it. New menus should be printed so it's not a mystery what your meal costs when ordering. A shame, as we used to enjoy Mi Jalisco on a weekly basis. Never again.

OLD REVIEW, NO LONGER VALID (Previously 4 stars): Best authentic Mexican food in the Milford area. If you're really hungry, try the "Special Dinner", which is two full plates of food for a decent price. Many of the staff are exceedingly polite, but a select few, not so much. Also, on occasion, it seems that inexperienced staff are manning the kitchen and consistency suffers as a result, but only on those off-nights. I was extremely dissatisfied with a portion of my meal from the Milford NH location. I ordered the beef mini chimi's(8 count) and when I bit into one, I bit down on what I thought was a chunk of fat. But no, it was not. It was a whole chunk of ventricular tubes, all connected. I counted 3 circular tube openings on each side, about 3 inches in length. I'm pretty sure it was either a blood vessel, artery or a piece of a heart! What part of the cow are they cooking and serving??!! I have never had an experience like this before. I was so disgusted, I almost threw up! I lost my entire appetite and couldn't even finish the other part of my meal. I have a hard time believing that the person who assembled by hand these chimichangas did not see that! There was no other meat in the chimichanga, it was just that, there was no way it should have been missed!! I ended up calling the restaurant and talking to a manager who refunded that portion of my meal but wouldn't refund the whole meal. His tone was non apologetic and was pretty nonchalant about it and said "Okay, sorry this happened. I will refund that portion of your meal and I will check the kitchen." I asked him if he realized how horrendous this experience was, and he said yes... I sent an complaint email to Health and Human Services Food Protection Department of NH regarding this experience. I am sorry to say that I have to update my review. We have been happy customers for close to a decade, but not anymore. I keep trying to give the benefit of the doubt but the last three or four times have been terrible. I understand it’s hard to find good help, so I have tried to be reasonable. I also know that inflation is ridiculous, but portions have gotten smaller and are still more expensive. The food seems thrown together, especially taco Tuesday. The flavor has decreased. Finally, on our last visit—in every sense of the word—we tried to speak to a manager but we’re told there was no one to talk to. We got the kids cheese pizza but it was inedible. The cheese dip is overpriced for the size. We ordered a lunch fajita but were charged for a dinner portion, when asked to have it adjusted we were told that it couldn’t be changed since there was no manager. The vegetables were advertised as more than peppers and onions but that’s all that was included in the small portion that it was. Very disappointed after years of loyal patronage, as can be seen in my review below from years ago.
