We found this place tucked into the corner of a strip mall next to G Mart where we shopped often. And how we were so pleasantly surprised to have Pura Barosa in Milford. Amazing food, every dish we have ordered has been impeccably executed with passion and love. The dishes that come from the kitchen come out in a steady stream and make sure you order Naan or your favorite flavored naan early since they make it fresh to order and takes a while.
Also the best deal are their lunch specials but every Sunday (they might start doing Sat.) they have an affordable buffet with an amazing display or colorful and delicious dishes. There are plenty of vegetarian options and the goat and Charminar Chicken is a must order. A cilantro based chicken dish really opens the pallet and pairs well with any of their amazing Biriyanis, like the Goat Biriyani as aforementioned.
One thing we wished was that they would light up and make the store front of the restaurant more inviting. We are always guessing if they are open or not since the windows are quite tinted and the restaurant is tucked away in the corner and someone might gloss over this place if they were not looking. But if you do find this gem in Milford, start with the amazing buffet on Sundays, and then come back and order your...
Read moreYou must check out this authentic Indian food spot in CT! So, we hit up the Sunday buffet for just $20, and let me tell you, it’s inside a massive shopping complex with parking that practically begs you to stay longer. The vibe? Pretty chill, not crowded at all, so you can pretend you're on a food pilgrimage without bumping into people.
Now, to the food! I kicked things off with some veg starters, because, you know, balance. Potato fries and onion vada—boom, both tasted great. Then came the veg biryani and other vegetarian dishes, and I was like, "Okay, maybe I can do this veggie thing more often."
But wait, I’m no vegetarian. Enter the non-veg main course and my soul finally rejoiced! First up, chicken Manchurian (spicy fireworks in my mouth), then tandoori chicken, Hyderabad biryani, mango goat curry, butter chicken, and naan for days. Seriously, after being in the US for so long, this was the first time I felt spiritually connected to Indian food again. My taste buds? Thrilled. My heart? Full.
Oh, and let’s not forget the surprise pani puri. Even that was a winner. And dessert—no idea what it was called, but it tasted like it was straight from the heavens. Om...
Read moreStumbled in last night for dinner with my wife. We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! Normally, we never really go anywhere we haven't heard of from someone previously but decided to take a chance. All I can say is - go to Barosa - the atmosphere, the staff and the food are all amazing. We were never wondering where our waitress was, the food was served very timely and not to mention absolutely delicious. I believe the restaurant to be family run (my paradigm from talking to the waitress) and what she said really stuck with my wife and I - the food is cooked for you just as it is cooked at home in their own kitchen for their family. My wife and I ordered two different dishes and they were both just decadent. So flavorful and made just perfect. My dinner I let my waitress suggest and if she is my waitress again she can suggest anytime - her recommendation was excellent. As I stated initially - this is an amazing place - amazing people and amazing food. I really wish all the success it deserves as a premier Indian Food Restaurant...
