So my husband and I are new to this area and we were in search of a good Chinese restaurant. We ordered delivery, but we were told the driver is there around 5pm. I will explain in as much detail as I can and give my honest explanation and review . It was nice to find a restaurant that serves tofu. I ordered the veggie fried rice and orange tofu with vegetables. It was pretty good, the chunks were a bit large, but it was a nice re creation of orange chicken. My husband ordered the mushu gai pan chicken and veggies ( I will honestly explain they seemed abit cheap on the portions for the mushu chicken , it had a lot of egg and veggies tho. We both admitted the food had good flavor, could have been better portions, it was easy to order. I cannot comment on the view of the restaurant as we had delivery. They charged us a $10 delivery fee and on top of that the driver went ahead and gave himself a $10 tip because my husband forgot to fill in the tip portion of the receipt (( IF YOU ARE ORDERING FOOD FROM ANYWHERE, MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFICALLY TOTAL THE FOOD TOTAL OR TIP AMOUNT AND DO NOT JUST LEAVE BLANK BECAUSE SOME DESPERATE PERSON WILL FRAUDULENTLY ALTER THE TIP AMOUNT LIKE WHAT HAPPENED HERE))
We didn’t know a $10 tip was added to the $10 delivery fee until we saw our bank statement of $99 when it was supposed to be $70 something. This restaurant is on the pricy side so if you don’t mind spending a lot on your food then it’s ok, but we were told the plates don’t come with rice or anything so if you let’s say order the mushu chicken plate (for example) you have to order rice or noodles as a separate side as the plates do not come with a side. So we ordered white rice which was an extra $4 for two scoops. My veggie rice was like $14 just to have rice with the tofu $16 (I might be off by like a dollar but I’m just giving as close as possible figures for the general idea)
After we noticed the added charge we called and spoke to an older lady and we explained that the driver took money off of our card without permission she said my husband added the tip which my husband told me he did not, he forgot and we said that the driver took it upon himself to add some kind of tip and she was apologetic and said she would refund our $10. She said he’s never done that and he is reliable, BUT NOT THIS TIME. For whatever reason someone decides to break the law or steal from another it changes whoever they were to what they are now. If you take without asking that is theft. I’m sorry to say this but people work hard for what they have and it should not be taken lightly. See, it’s not that we are cheap because as you see we ordered over $70 worth of food. But when you have someone who takes it upon themselves to take money from you without asking ( or restaurant tip policy) and they gift themselves what ever amount of money they desire as a tip, that my friends IS illegal. Because of that we decided we will no longer do business with this restaurant. Because we verbalized it, even if we picked up our own food I don’t feel comfortable with this being aired so unfortunately we will have to find another restaurant to do business with.
All of My reviews are 100% honest, hope I don’t offend anyone, but I feel the people have a right to know what I have experienced as a person. Maybe my review might help others or just one person to make better...
Read moreI really used to love this place… I went probably once a week. Was a fantastic little spot in Mill Creek. Who knows why things decline but, sadly, such is the case with this place. Really poor food quality. Oily, extremely sauce heavy and the sauce is not even that good. The rice that I had was dry and that really spoiled the whole meal.
I went with family yesterday and there is a new server who would probably rather be doing anything but that. To say that he is unengaged is an understatement. He probably was asked by his family members to work or he has some external pressures which require him to work there, but whatever the case it makes for a poor experience. I had to get up and ask for numerous things that were forgotten initially.
It looked like they were super busy with phone and Uber orders and I am happy for them because I want them to succeed. I just don’t think I personally can eat there again because the food lately has just been extremely bland or oily as mentioned or just tasteless and it is so obvious that it’s done quickly in a hurried fashion just to get it out and slap it in front of the customers. There is no attention to detail and none on quality anymore.
A person can really tell when a restaurant puts their heart and soul into making food for the customers and this particular place is soul-less.
I gave it three stars because I have memories of the good old days where everything was very good and how my family and I used to go there and have such a great time, but if I was being honest, I would give it one or two stars for the food quality. And one star for the new server. I hope he finds his place in this world, but it’s certainly not there.
Owners… Please bring back the care and quality that you used to have. Your wonton soup was by far the best I’ve had in a while and now the quality is nowhere near what it used to be. Your fried rice was so saturated in oil and the rice itself was either old or made way earlier or dry or something… Even your white rice was extremely dry and tasteless, please do not compromise Quality, perhaps figure out a way to give the best of both quality and Quantity. If need be -then hire another chef to meet the increased online/phone orders. But by no means let your quality drop...
Read moreI stopped by China Garden with my friend when it was snowing. They were only of the few restaurants that was still open, and I am glad they were! I ordered chicken with vegetables for $10. The cup of brown rice was $3 extra (the entrée itself did not come with rice). The chicken and vegetables came on a family-style plate with a large spoon. This was supposed to be a dish to share, but I kept it all for myself! The chicken was plain and un-breaded / un-fried. It was very flavorful and cooked in some sort of clear sauce that I could not identify. The chicken was not so tender as to fall part in my mouth but it was also not so rough that it took a long time chewing. It was cooked to the perfect consistency. For the vegetables, there were water chestnuts, carrots, celery, bok choy, mushrooms, squash, onion, and bean sprouts. The water chestnuts were cut thin and very crunchy, as is to be expected. The carrots were thick slices with crinkled edges. They also had a good crunch to them. The celery were one inch by one inch squares that I personally found to be a tad bland. The bok choy were two to three inch chunks of both the root and the leaf. The mushrooms were whole and not to my liking. I am not a big mushroom person and was not aware they’d be in my dish. If I knew, I would have requested they be omitted from the meal. Nevertheless, I simply ate around the mushrooms. The squash was sliced into small circles and also had the crinkled edges. The onions were thin slices that melted in my mouth and were very delicious. The bean sprouts were plain and more of a garnish. Mixing everything together along with the brown rice resulted in a nice meal. I would have preferred there be more vegetables and less meat, but that is just me. As for the atmosphere, everything looked very clean and new. The chairs had cushion and were very comfortable. I also enjoyed the complimentary hot Chinese tea in traditional...
