My mom ate at this place a long time ago and I was convinced to go. I wanted to taste their pancakes, thinking it would be better than fast-food or Jack's restaurant. The moment we got there, it was packed and there was no parking. The moment we went inside the place, the atmosphere was terrible. It was packed and the workers wanted people to go and leave without giving them time to set in or order.
When we finally sat down at a table, already the server wanted us to order right there and than without going through the menu. The server was nice but she seem to rush me and my mom and wasn't really engaging towards us. She even convinced my mom to order bacon even though she told her that she didn't want any.
And the moment that we got our food, it was sloppy and it smelled. I didn't expect the food to look so bad. The pancakes were like crepes. I'm not sure that was the style but I thought they would be fluffy which they weren't. I order the banana pancakes which I found very sad looking and the taste wasn't nothing special. It was okay but not good. The bacon was really salty and the eggs were plain. The harsh browns were the only thing I liked but there were some parts that were wet which I found concerning. With the butter, it tasted odd especially the one with berries in it, it tasted bad. The drinks were the only thing that was highlight and I know they didn't make it.
With the pricing was bad, my mom paid 55 dollars on food that later on got her and myself really sick and the heat didn't help and the place made it really tight. The bathrooms were to small. My mom also found paper on the floor that had poop on it. Also, a guy went inside the girl's bathroom and nobody didn't say anything about it.
Overall, never going to Pancake House ever again. I was disappointed and my mom never wants to go there again. I was looking forward on good or great pancakes. And knowing what happened with the incident of the man getting unalived and ate there before he died was really disturbing. Never going...
Read moreRecommendations: -Do the free upgrade from toast to pancakes. The lingonberry butter alone is worth it. -Go in the morning when everything is lively and bright for the best experience. The hustle and bustle atmosphere makes it that much more casual and family friendly. -This is not a place to sit and have a relaxing morning. Go in, get breakfast, get on with the rest of the day kind of deal.
This is a great place to go for Brunch with family or friends. Very classic breakfast place, with the standard fare; Pancakes, waffles, bacon, eggs, etc.
It seems quite unassuming from outside, but there is a huge interior space and lots of seating. You are presented with a very cozy feel, consisting of exposed beams and old school wooden furniture and booths.
I was seated within moments, my order taken in 5 minutes and my food arrived in another 5 minutes.
The cold brew is quite decent. Not barista worthy by any means, but still tasty and strong morning pick me up. And there is fresh cold cream waiting at every table.
California Omelette My order came with: -hot and crispy hash browns -Swedish Pancakes + Lingonberry butter -perfectly ripe avocado -Thin omelette that was wrapped perfectly around everything
Cons: I would have like far more seasoning on veggies. The tomatoes and onions were very juicy but still bland. Furthermore there were far too many tomatoes and onions. It would have been better to add another vegetable like spinach to make it a trifecta.
Additionally I felt quite rushed, the bill came halfway through my meal. If there was a line out the door and people were waiting to get in I would understand. But, there were several free tables, so I don’t understand why the wait staff were so eager to have me...
Read moreWe ate in the outdoor seating area next to the parking lot in the back. It was crowded around 10:45 am, so be sure to get there early!
I had to try their famous Swedish pancakes, which you get three thin pancakes with ligonberry spread. This dish was featured on the KQED show Check, Please! Bay Area. The easiest and fun way to eat them is to spread the ligonberry spread on one pancake, then roll it up using the fork and knife and cut horizontally. The pancakes were light and thin, and the ligonberry spread was airy and fluffy with a few pieces of ligonberry in it. Both were lightly sweetened, so if you like your food not too sweet and a light dish that won't make you too full, this dish is for you. Also, no need for any syrup, unless you love syrup!
My friend ordered the Supreme omelet, which arrived on a huge plate packed with food! I think it came with hash browns, sausage, and he chose the Swedish pancakes for the side. There's a choice of the regular pancakes as well. I didn't try it. He loved the dish and couldn't finish it as he was too full!
As an added bonus, our server surprised us with three complimentary chocolate chip pancakes! They are fluffy and slightly chocolaty, with small melted chocolate chips adorning them throughout, along with the chocolate mixed into the batter. We were so full and couldn't finish them after all that food!
Overall, a great experience with attentive servers, tasty food and one of our favorite breakfast spots. A sign of a great restaurant is how busy and crowded it is, and this one is definitely one...
