The Food A friend wanted to try a variety of food for his birthday, so Hu Bei Restaurant was a desired choice. Needless to say, we ordered quite a bit of dishes to try amongst everyone. I believe they also gave us a complementary noodle on the house, which was awesome. Cucumber with Garlic Sauce (凉拌黄瓜) Spicy Dumplings, Sour Oil (紅油抄手) Spicy Boiled Beef/Lamb (水煮牛/羊肉) Ping Xiang Fried Pork (平那小炒肉) Cumin Beef Steak (孜然牛排) Ma Po Tofu Pork (麻婆豆腐) A Choy w/ Garlic Sauce (蒜蓉A菜) Dry Cooked String Beans (干煽四季豆) Eggplant with Szechuan Sauce (鱼香茄子) Golden Prawns (黃金金沙蝦) Fried Rice (炒饭, 虾) All the food was very delicious with good flavors and taste. I enjoyed the noodle dish (Wuhan Hot Noodles, 武漢熱干麵) they gave us. I also liked their Spicy Boiled Beef/Lamb and Cumin Beef Steak. Though I wish these two dishes were a bit more...meaty. My friends and I were quite satisfied after the meal. But there were many more dishes to try, so perhaps we will return another time.
The Miscellaneous The restaurant is within a small plaza, but there seems to be a decent amount of parking. The inside is not super big, but there is quite a bit of seating for various group sizes. The interior has interesting decor to bring out the theme of a Chinese restaurant. Their services seemed efficient, the food arrived at time not too long after ordering. Their staff was very kind and sincere, not like your typical asian restaurant, big thumbs up. They have an extensive menu with many varieties of dishes to choose from. The prices are quite reasonable also on their standard dish, with specialty dishes slightly more expensive. I would still come back and visit to try their other...
Read moreTERRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE. DID NOT WANT TO RETURN MY MONEY FOR BAD FOOD. We ordered #59 - Fish filet in spicy bean curd sauce and #84 - stir-fried sponge cucumber with Chinese donut over phone for take out. When arrived food was ready to go. Paid cash and offered to give tip and they refused. Strange! The people in front of me were rude and the person behind me was upset as well. Brought food home and the sponge cucumber was so bitter it almost made me vomit and the other vegetables were ruined by the bitterness of the cucumber. So I decided to return to the restaurant to either get my money back or order something else. The same lady who took my order and accepted my cash payment now was argumentative about the return of my money. The other people that were sitting around with no masks or social distancing would not look at me. It was so unnecessary for her to be so rude and reluctantly refund my money. I would not recommend this restaurant due to how they handle problems. If it wasn't for customer they would not have business. I hope...
Read moreThe restaurant is very nice and clean however the service was very disappointing. We were sat down by a older woman who looked at us and asked us ice water and hot tea? But than never brought hot tea. We asked her what was popular and she stated a dish that was close to the Mongolian beef we had chosen but double the price, we kindly said no thank you.
Mongolian beef was the first dish that was presented to us. The meat was extremely tender and delicious but the serving was depressing.
Dan Dan noodles- simple and flavorful but very light. Not what I was expecting but it was yummy.
Fried rice- nothing to Brag
Sweet and sour pork- THE STAR DISH! This sauce is bold and thriving! It's honestly the dish that gave my pallet the most flavor.
All in all I do believe that there is many other dishes that are bursting with flavors and I might have to give them one more try. Unfortunately the customer service is sad and the servings...
