I was looking for a taco shop that was more authentic and I heard about this place. Glad I stopped and gave it a try. The location is a little iffy and I probably would have missed it if I wasn't using my maps. But if you can find Maverick it's just acrossed the street to the southwest. Now that I found it, it will be easier next time. The lady at the register spoke very little English, This made me feel as though this place is the real deal! Based on their menu They are pretty popular for their Tortas. They offer a big variety of meats when it comes to them. The tacos they offer are authentic, Chuleta, Pollo, Asada, Suadero, Chorizo and Pastor. They are all the same price $3.99. At first I thought that was a bit pricey for a single taco. I ordered the asada, chorizo and pastor. When the tacos finally came to my table I realized REAL QUICK how big these tacos are! Each taco comes with two corn tortillas. You can easily make two tacos out of one order. They are VERY generous with their meat, They also top their tacos off with onion and cilantro and provide you with a red and green salsa & limes which taste amazing. That was when I realized what they are charging is well reasonable. You can order three tacos and easily make six out of them. My favorite was the chorizo, it had amazing flavor. The asada taco was just that, still really good. I was a little surprised with the pastor as usually this taco has great flavoring but found their meat to be a bit dry and the flavor was lacking just a bit. It was still good, and I would order it again. I definitely will be back, next time I will try a torta. There wasn't anything special about the restaurant itself plenty of space for a lot of people They also offer outdoor seating when the weather gets better. I can only imagine how packed it gets on a...
Read moreBig Tortas has the potential to be a great unique eatery. Unfortunately they need to fix a few things. Service is the biggest issue at this restaurant. After ordering we weren't given our drinks and we were told to wait. We waited and when the food finally came it only came for one person. It took about 15 minutes from the time our first dish came until the last dish came (there were only 3 of us). Once we all had our dishes we still didn't have our drinks. One of our drinks was a specialty drink and I understand why that might take a little longer to make but the other two were just sodas. After sitting for another 10 minutes we finally went back up and said we couldn't eat our meals until we get our drinks. We were finally given our drinks after we had been at the restaurant for about a half an hour. We ate our meals which were just okay and after we eaten all our food the specialty strawberry smoothie drink came out which we had to drink after our meal because it...
Read moreWow! I love love love this place. Don't let the outside fool you. The food is absolutely big and delicious. I've tried the Cuban and the Sur 39. My favorite being the latter. They ask if you want jalapeño or chipotle sauce on your sandwich, the correct answer is both please. I had the orders to go so I wasn't able to experience the HUGE juice glasses however the Papaya juice I ordered was decent. Definitely will try other flavors soon. Most could share one sandwich. If you have a big appetite, one sandwich would be super filling. There are tables and booths available for seating. Also outdoor seating available. On their site there is a delivery option through Grubhub. Takeout is also available. No options available to vegans however there is an egg/cheese sandwich for an ovo-vegetarian. They're connected to another restaurant that seems like the "dessert" side, which complimented the meal even more. *Spanish...
