Cafe Zupas — Restaurant in Millcreek

I’m a regular at Zupas in Spanish Fork. My husband, son and I went to this location because it was close to one of the two doctors appointments we had in Salt Lake today. We went in at 11 a.m. we were one of the only customers in the store. We ordered our food, it was extremely fast but right when I saw the food I was unsatisfied at the look of my salad. The raspberries looked old, almost rotting. We had only 20 minutes to order and eat before our first appointment since we were a bit early. I’m one to bring up a problem but we simply didn’t have any time to spare. I sent in a comment to actual Zupas and hope something changes.

We sat down and I look at the raspberries, there’s mold growing on the insides of every one of them. The blackberries are literally shriveled and mushy. I picked out every raspberry and blackberry. Blueberries and strawberries seemed to be fine. Then I eat half of my spicy chicken sandwich and it was cold and absolutely not fresh. I take a look at the inside of my sandwich and I could tell immediately the chicken patty was old. My husband took a bite of it and immediately spit it out. I have NEVER had a problem with my fruit rotting or my chicken being cold/not fresh at my original location. We were the second party of people in there and they couldn’t even give us the courtesy of making sure our food was fresh and hot. I hope the food isn’t always like this, I hope it was just a bad day for them. But Zupas has always had my respect and in my eyes has been a very high quality place but today it was far from that. I cannot say enough great things about Zupas, but particularly this location. Concerning the food; I love mixing the Mushroom Bisque and the Wisconsin Cauliflower! It was recommended to me here and I’m obsessed with this combination. Delicious and I would highly recommend you give it a try! My favorite sandwiches are the Brisket and Grilled Cheese and the Pesto Chicken. Yum! They also have flavored syrups for your soda; very convenient. All my soda dreams coming true -Dr. Pepper with peach and coconut. Concerning the customer service; I would give 10 stars if I could! Being a mother of two young children it can be challenging to carry all the food, carry my baby, and guide my toddler to the table. One employee in particular, Mateo Garzon always goes out of his way to serve me and my family. He has carried our food to the table, refilled our drinks, brought us a box to take whatever food we have leftover, and has even brought my son an extra chocolate strawberry. He does so with a smile on his face. He is kind to all the customers and you can tell it brings him joy to make sure everyone has what they need and that they have a good experience there. I ordered a "Build Your Own" protein bowl that had a listed price of $8.00 and change. On the menu board, it said "add protein and four [other items]." I was most unpleasantly surprised to find that I was charged $13.32!! The menu said absolutely nothing about the extra charges for the protein and other added items. Seriously??!! If there are additional charges, they need to be spelled out unambiguously. I was with a friend and her interpretation was the same as mine regarding my order.

I was told that the district manager was in the store today and so I spoke to him about this deceptive/incomplete labeling on the menu board. I was disappointed that he didn't seem to take my concern seriously. ("Sorry, not sorry" is how it felt.) I don't give him very high points for his response.

I definitely suggest that you make your pricing for this item, if not others, much more clearly stated.

On the positive side, the other employees I dealt with were very nice.

I ordered expecting to pay about $9.00. I ended up paying nearly 50% more. This is the kind of experience that causes me to go elsewhere, regardless of the business or services. Nobody likes...
