Spent too long standing waiting to be sat. I mean the "cashier" acknowledged by smiling and saying someone would be with me shortly but then atleast 5 minutes went by before the ONLY server (on a Friday night) then acknowledged me saying she'd be right with me. She went to the back stood still for a minute, got a pizza took it out to a table came back got drink refills, got another pizza then went back into the kitchen again and stood (I get it she needed a break but she wasn't alone jusy the ONLY server) the cashier made a comment to her about us and she said she was aware and spoke to us. Then she asked us booth or table I said it didn't matter she said give me a minute to clean that table and went and cleaned off a table. While it was still wet with that lovely cleaning solution stale smell she asked us to sit. I grabbed napkins and preceeded to dry the table off. She brought me us and said she'd be back. My daughter went to use the restroom when the server returned to get our drink order and asked if we were doing the buffet. I asked if they had wings on it and she said no Wednesdays only. I said I'd need to look at a menu and speak with my daughter. We had come because she wanted to and wanted a combo of their wings, garlic cheese bread, cinnamon poppables and maybe to try some pizza. No wings was huge for not for me. She decided she was too hungry and she wanted to just do the buffet. I went with it and regret my choice. Besides the garlic cheese bread there was cheese pizza one pepperoni and one sausage pepperoni the rest were all the same or so they appeared just different sizes. Half the pizza plates were empty with crumbs which just looks bad... the salad bar was ice burg with winter spinach, whole hard boiled eggs which wouldn't be an issue had they had metal forks, nope plastic that were super flimsy and almost broke in half poking a tomato. The noodles were old and dried out. The sauce seemed the same but was becoming tomato paste instead, and of course drink refills were hard to come by...
So sad as the same restaurant in Berlin was not this way. Guess I'll stick to...
Read moreMy wife wanted to get out of the house and go see the fall colors up toward Amish territory. We live in Dayton and the destination was Millersburg, Ohio. As we were leaving Millersburg, we didn't see any "mom and pop" home cooked meals restaurants when I eyeballed East Of Chicago.
We parked and went in to be greeted by a young man who asked us if we wanted the buffet. I asked how much was it, he replied $9.99 + drink. We affirmed 2 buffets and were informed the pizzas would be out within a couple minutes.
There was also a stocked salad bar but I didn't want to fill up on that, but when those pizzas were placed out, WOW were they GREAT!!! The young man who waited on us was kind, friendly and attentive to us and even the customers were friendly to talk to!! Next time we are in Millersburg, we WILL be back to eat at East...
Read moreGreat wings when you eat in. Waitresses are usually sweet and very attentive. Buffet does lack a little, but it's a small restaurant and I'm sure they go by what/how much gets eaten on a daily basis. Love the music they play, peaceful atmosphere. Their regular crusted pizza is awesome. Thin crust can get a little too brown for my liking, but the toppings still taste great. Pizza and bread sticks are good whether you eat in or have it delivered. Also, when calling in for delivery they are very polite. I don't remember having my order taken wrong, possibly once in 4 years. Berlin also has a great East of Chicago. Been there and really enjoyed it. The Subs and the bread for the subs... awesome!!!! I love their subs and sometimes wish I could still eat bread...
