I kept hearing wonderful things about Grist House and finally was able to make it over to try. Wow! I'm impressed!
Looking at the pictures online it was tough to understand what everyone was raving about. Was it just a gravel parking lot with a few picnic tables on a side street in Millvale? Is that fun? But the answers are- it's more than that, and yes!
I ended up sitting at a picnic table in the gravel patio area near their secondary bar-which is like a little beer food truck. The vibe was great. Everybody was having a nice time, dogs are welcome, and the people are friendly. They also have a second, indoor bar attached to where they do their brewing that has more variety on tap. (There is also an indoor bathroom located in this building.)
I'm not even the biggest beer drinker and I thought all the beers I tried were really good! My friend, who is more of an enthusiast, also loves them and lauds their beer as the best in Pittsburgh!
They have a variety of food trucks that park outside and let you bring in outside food too (so if you have dietary restrictions- you can bring something that will work for you!)
Would highly recommend giving this...
Read moreYea it's open! Been entirely too long closed. Yea, you could stop and take some cans home- but it's not the same. You need the horrible parking, fight for a table and chair, wait in line for a beer, to enjoy this place! I tried all of that at home and it didn't feel the same. Oh, forgot the bathroom line too! It all plays into the ambiance.
Love the place and can't wait to go back.
They completed a new inside seating area! Wow! I went yesterday for a pint and to get some cans to go. In the past, they had a trailer by the gate that you went to get a refill and cans to go. Yhats gone and replaced with more seating. The new room is where you now get it. But the most important thing, no more waiting in line to go to the bathroom! ! E.ty of bathrooms now. And no more portapotty. To say I will miss the line waiting and talking to other people is a yes, but still...
It I'd amazing how the place keeps getting better and better year over year, when others are closing. Cheers Gristhpouse to an amazing business and look forward to celebrating the next large anniversary.
Just need to raise the time...
Read moreGrist house was one of our favorite breweries, We love being able to bring our puppy as well as meet up with those in our lives who have kids. Service has always been amazing. However I recently reached out to inquire about a private event.. and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. They said yes they could accommodate my party and date. But communication is severely lacking each Correspondence take over a week to hear back and takes me reaching out multiple times via email before i even get an initial response. I know they are busy with the new venue opening and football season coming back but i wish they would have told me no instead of stringing me along, as now it is two weeks before my event and i don’t even know if i have a venue due to them not answering me I have emailed twice, tried to call ( they dont even have a active phone), and reached out via instagram. just overall sad and disappointed in this experience after being a frequent visitor of grist.. i hope in the future they can improve on this so others can have an enjoyable experience planning an...
