It’s father’s day and my family wanted to take me to a different dimsum restaurant, so we went to this establishment in Milpitas, about 17 miles from our home. It’s in a shopping center with limited parking spaces due to many businesses. Luckily we found a parking spot. Lots of people were waiting outside but we got to sit right away, may be it’s only 4. The table was quite small, typically for 4. The place is big and I noticed there were no dimsum carts. The service wasn’t very good because one server was running with many tables. Anyhow, we still got our ice water (without ice) and our tea. We had to mark what we wanted on the menu with a pen. After that we gave to our server and he printed out an order stapled to the menu. Now, if you have a lot of time, you may like this place because every dish is trickling to your table every 5-10 minutes. We ate and waited for the next one. So for us it’s a total turn off. The food is not bad although the portions are bigger than our favorite Harbor Bay Village Seafood in Newark, but we still prefer our favorite place. Every dishes are tasty except for the tripes were tasteless. My daughter favorite dish and she only had one bite. I had to finish it because we don’t waste food and it’s not nice to return it. The prices are comparable to other restaurants so nothing to say here. The service and food delivery were subpar. We got 2 of the same dish delivered and one was taken off because of their mistake, all in Chinese so we can’t see which one is which until the all the names on our order was crossed out then we realized our last order was replaced by the duplicates. Will we come back here again? The logic is why would we drive 17 miles to have ok food, ok prices, not ok services while our favorite place is 3 miles from home. The answer is NO although my kids like the...
Read moreThe food wasn’t bad but wasn’t good also I’m have same issues to describe it. Because every restaurant and every chef have his own style but in this one particularly the food was in the dry side and that it’s was makes the difference. They have a very extensive menu with so many Dishes that you can’t find in other Chinese restaurant. Portion are very generous (to share) and price are reasonable. We ordered: potstickers (pork) they are big and 6 in the portion, chicken mu shu very generous for an appetizer ( you need to ask for extra sauce) ,beef chow main a lot of noodles almost no veggies and small portion of beef and honey-walnut prawns good but almost no sauce. We appreciate very much the mango pudding that was on the house, I think was the manager arrived to ours table with the dessert and was an unexpected surprise, very nice touch. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. The service was very good and attentive just a bite difficult to understand for the accent and mask. The ambience looks elegant in comparison to others Chinese restaurants but using inexpensive decors , lighting, table cloth ( I think are disposable) , chairs are confortable also it’s a big restaurant they have a lot of seating. If you like to give a change remember, most of the dish’s are for share unless you have a big appetite or like to take home...
Read moreThe quality of the food here is a bit varied, with pretty standard service (except they don't ladle out soup; they leave it for you to do).
Seafood soup had a good portion of seafood butnwas a bit bland.
Clay pots seem to only be offered on weekdays, at least that was what we were told. That said, the spare rib clay pot has good flavor and the rice will crisp up if you wait a few minutes, but the portion of ribs is not proportional to the amount t of rice. The ribs also have quite a bit of bone chips, so nimble teeth are handy here.
Tomato beef chow mien is too sweet; it's reminiscent of sweet and sour sauce. Lots of tomatoes though and a reasonable portion of beef.
Overall this place was a fail for this choice of dishes, though we saw man u other tables with large plates of lobster noodles, so maybe we just didn't get the memo.
We've been to other branches of Cheung Hing on the peninsula and they have been better with some dishes and less so...
