Belli’s Bistro & Spirits — Restaurant in Milwaukee

Poor Communication Skills & Food Isn’t As Great As It Looks! So When I Arrived I had to ask to be seated . Blew that off because it was my first time there and I was really excited to try the food. Turns out all tables were reserved so to the bar I went. Started off with menus given ASAP but no drinks offered. Then they bring us bread. Two big slices, two small slices and honey butter spread. The two small slices we fresh and hot (really good) the two big slices were stale & hard but hot. That was weird! I asked if we could have more bread because the bread that was given was old and stale. The bartender then let us know that they were out of bread and he informed us that he did feel it and it was hard. (I’m thinking so why did you still serve us the bread) but anyway, we finally order food (appetizers and meal) I got buffalo shrimp and their flamed lobster tail (YUM.. so I thought) I had to ask for drinks which was two waters. My water had some type of slimy white stuff in it so I reverted to a CAN soda! My shrimp arrives and it was decent. I was offered sauce and ordered blue cheese to go with it and the bartender appeared to go grab it but came back and said nothing. So finally the owner (I think) brung the sauce out. Cool. Ate that, it was okay. But I was ready for my lobster, fries and Mac & cheese. Finally the food is coming out ( Only lobster & fries) They set it on fire and put it out with gravy (I couldn’t wait to dive in!) I tried my lobster tail and while trying to cut into it it’s super rough (Im no expert so I still ate it) it was unseasoned and had a weird after taste. I asked for salt & pepper and my Mac and cheese. That’s when I was informed that they just started cooking the Mac & cheese so it will be awhile. Okay that’s fine. I wait on salt & pepper and still didnt receive it so I asked for it again. Finally the salt & pepper arrives. So I’m thinking the lobster tail just needs salt & pepper and it will be good. I season my lobster tail and go in for another piece. It’s still rough and still has a funny taste so I have the person I’m with try it and they agree. I try another piece and it was so chewy I couldn’t even swallow it. I let the bartender know that something is wrong with the lobster tail. He takes it and never says a word. So my Mac & cheese finally comes out. I just ate that & my fries. We’re done eating now & I ask for the bill. Of course they didn’t offer me anything, not half off, not a sorry, not anything. I paid the bill. No tip! & went home. FIRST AND LAST TIME visiting this establishment!!!! If I could leave a ZERO I would! Don’t waste your money if you...

I had very high hopes for this "Bistro" experience. I had traveled to Milwaukee and saw many post on the internet about this place...unfortunately it was a terrible experience. The actual restaurant is beautiful has sky high potential. The execution was way off! Me and my guest dressed for a night on the town, I've visited bistros in Chicago and the vibe is intimate and classy. As we enter there is extremely loud "drill" music playing on the sound system that was much larger than it needed to be. In the back there was a birthday party of extremely loud ladies, we were set right next to them. Another table of 6 was sat next to us,eventually we were all moved because no one would ask the ladies to bring it down, in fact they increased the volume to drown them out but it didn't work. The server approached, my first question was do you have any specials? He replied "we don't have nothing on sale"....so that's all you know to be a special? Not the frozen drinks or anything...😒. So my date asked if there were any larger sized sides that we could share, he responded yes the lobster mac comes in a big bowl. 🤔. All the sides came in the same bowls.😒. The drinks were excellent I will say but it was down hill from there! My date ordered the fried lobster tail,lobster mac and grilled asparagus...tail was dry and overcooked with plain hot sauce on the side, mac was mushy and bland and the super thin asparagus was burned. I had the lemon garlic salmon, collared greens and garlic mash...salmon was overcooked, collareds were salty but the potatoes were good. As we waited for the food a server gave us free shots, my thoughts were because the birthday party made everyone uncomfortable. So the check comes and there is a $20 gratuity on a 2 person $120 bill so....no tip and the server got an attitude about thatthat!. All said and done its taken me a week to write this review ( I didn't want to be mean,just factual) because I had such high hopes to support a black owned business but it's a NO for me! My mother and I went to bellis on a wed (9/4/24) and had the worst experience. We were there at 7pm exactly, sat at the bar and had a frozen lemon drops. They were good. We order food right away. Two orders of chicken wings and Cajun pasta with no shrimp or meat. The bartender explained to us that it would be a slight wait for the food. We were very understanding. We ordered hookah and were chilling catching a vibe to the music… well a hour goes by still no food. 20 more mins go by we finally get the wings. The fries were better than the wings in our opinion maybe because we didn’t have them sauce…. 45 mins more and we were still waiting for the pasta. The bartender told us she was NOT going to charge us for the drinks. We were appreciative that she understood that we were sitting there for that long. She finally brings the pasta and the bill… told us the pasta was also not on the there. We look at the bill the drinks are on there but not the pasta. We just said f it because we were ready to go. We ended up leaving around close to 10 pm. We get home to eat the pasta.. CAJUN PASTA… there was nothing Cajun about it unfortunately. It was buttered noodles and shredded cheese. we hade to put salt and pepper on it. We were beyond pissed. This isn’t my first bad encounter unfortunately at bellis recently. Between waiting for food, uncooked food, and poor preparation, I haven’t had a great experience. The vibe is great I will say. Great music and drinks forsure. Love to see a black Buisness be successful the way they are but...
