I’ve passed by here dozens of times, but this was my first time stopping in. It's conveniently located right on the corner of Becher Street. They have a parking lot with plenty of spaces. The entire southeast corner is made up of large, windowed garage doors, so you can get plenty of light and fresh air when everything is open.
I came on a Monday morning, and there were other tables with small groups. Some people looked like they were doing work, while others were just chilling out. The place has a nice, relaxed vibe to it. I was greeted by a cheerful barista, and she did a nice job explaining some of the menu items. I typically get a London Fog Tea Latte, but the description of their Manila Fog sounded interesting and tasty (Black Rishi Tea, Ube Syrup, and Coriander on top — with extra foam for me). I also asked for a Matcha Scone, which they warmed up a bit.
Both the Manila Fog and the Matcha Scone were excellent. You could definitely taste the Ube Syrup, though it was a bit too sweet for me (I would ask for half the amount next time). The scone had great flavor, but its texture was more muffin-like than scone-like.
I’ll definitely be coming back — and will ask for a few tweaks on the food items, or maybe try a couple of...
Read moreVery nice looking place! Lot's of room, bright and sunny with all the windows, beautiful decor, a fridge with items ready to grab-n-go. The menu didn't have anything vegan for me, but my boyfriend ordered a make-it-your-way omelet that he gave a B grade to. Our drinks were good, his cold brew and my Manila Fog with plant-based milk. Funny thing about the Manila Fog, when you take your first sip, it smells like Froot Loops! What a throwback memory from childhood. The omelet came with breakfast potatoes and I tried one (they probably had butter on them) and they were tasty. The only vegan items I found were some Purple Door ice creams in the fridge, along with some containers of tomato soup, and tomato & red lentil soup. The split pea soup and the white bean soup were not vegan. The bakery items in the case looked good, but none were labeled vegan. I'm glad we stopped in to check out this new spot, but we won't be back unless all we need are drinks. Vegans can go elsewhere for a meal/brunch/snack, unless they just need a grab-n-go soup or ice cream. Four stars for ambiance, two stars for food = three...
Read moreMy girlfriend had an incredibly upsetting and degrading experience at this restaurant. While she was quietly working on her laptop after placing an online order, the manager, GAVIN, approached her in a loud and confrontational way, claiming she needed to leave because she hadn’t ordered quickly enough — even though she had already paid. She showed him the receipt, thinking that would clear things up, but instead of apologizing, he escalated the situation and called security to remove her. Being singled out and treated this way in front of everyone was humiliating. What made it even more disturbing was realizing she was the only visibly Black person in the room. It’s hard not to see this as targeted and discriminatory behavior. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable. She left feeling deeply disrespected and unwelcome, and she won’t be coming back. I’m currently at work downtown and frustrated and concerned that a business of this kind is in operation and hateful toward Black women, especially while she was...
