Let me start off by saying this, I'm quite bias when it comes to Japanese dishes that aren't made by Japanese. Today, I ordered Todd's Katsudon (rice bowl w/ fried breaded pork cutlet and egg) and the first few bites instantly took me back to Japan. The presentation is there, the freshness of ingredients, simply blown away. The pork cutlet was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired so well with the fluffy onion egg. I'm not a huge fan of Japanese curry, but now I have to go back and try their other rice bowls including the curry dishes.
The Thai ice tea was amazing, no doubt, being run by Thai. Wings were hot and fresh, and we got a side of purple sticky rice. Our favorite flavor was probably the mango habanero. You can taste the natural mango flavor unlike other places that use artificial ingredients.
TODD is actually hidden behind the upscale Thai/Japanese restaurant called Room Service. There is a small directional sign on Kinnickinnic, but easily overlooked. 4 off street parking available in the back of the restaurant (1 handicap spot, 3 15min spot), accessible only from Robinson street.
A few bench seatings (4-5) inside, and plenty of seating out on the patio. Restrooms available outside.
Truly a hidden gem in Bayview everyone should try.
Update9/24/24* Ok, 2nd time here, just devoured the Tonkatsu curry. I want to cry, it was delicious! I can't believe Milwaukee finally have a worthy restaurant that serve quality authentic Japanese...

Read moreLiterally a hidden gem. I mean literally. Situated behind the "finer" dining establishment, Room Service. Despite its hidden location, Todd's high quality take on Asian fried food should not go unnoticed.
Todd offers a casual, engaging, and mostly outdoor dining experience for delicious fried food. The way I see it, it's a place you come to with friends and hang out around it as you wait for your food. It has this food truck "vibe" for some reason. It's local, energetic and clearly innovative.
I say innovative in direct reference to the menu. It's the right size. Not too long to confuse you, and not too short to force you to get something you don't crave. We tried several menu items and I think my overall rating for food is 4/5. The flavor is rich, complex and subtle at the same time. No flavor was overwhelming. The breading on the tenders was a TINY bit too much. It took away from the chicken but not too much.
We visited on a Sunday. We waited about 45 minutes for food. It was absolutely no problem since everything around us was so pleasant. We ordered to go. Packaging was really good.
The men's bathroom was locked for some reason which is something I do not like. The staff were too busy for me to...
